UIL 6-A Cross Country Championship
Flower Mound High School Girls Cross Country team continues to re-write record books with a dominating win at the UIL 6-A State Championship Meet to claim the state championship with a combined score of 47, becoming the first 6-A program in history with five straight titles. Congratulations to the back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back champions!UIL 6-A Marching Band Contest
Three Lewisville ISD bands placed in the top half of the finals round at the 2024 6-A UIL State Marching Band Contest. The Flower Mound Marching Band earned third place and the bronze medal with their program entitled ‘Textures and Tones,’ and Hebron High School Marching Band earned the UIL state championship title and gold medal for their program entitled ‘Amorphous.’ This is the 12th-straight UIL state marching competition in which L-I-S-D programs have been represented as state marching finalists and medalists.
UIL 6-A Water Polo Championship
The Marcus High School Boys Water Polo team capped off an impressive season by earning the silver medal in their second appearance at the UIL 6-A State Water Polo Championship. Ranked first in Texas and third nationally by MaxPreps, the Marauders concluded their season with a remarkable 22 wins. Congratulations, Marcus!
OCTOBER 2024National School of Character
McAuliffe Elementary was named a 2024 National School of Character. The national certification is the highest level of distinction bestowed by Character.org. Schools receiving this designation have demonstrated excellence in establishing a school culture that exemplifies and brings to life the 11 Principles Framework for Schools. To earn this distinction, schools undergo a rigorous application process and successfully pass two rounds of evaluation. All schools will be formally recognized at Character dot org’s forum this fall.
Apple Distinguished Schools
Hebron Valley, Hicks, Independence, Old Settlers and Polser Elementary schools, Marcus 9th Grade Campus and McKamy Middle School, earned an Apple Distinguished Schools designation. Thanks to the work of teachers and staff, LISD's Digital Learning and Technology teams, these schools join an esteemed group of 1,000 campuses worldwide to earn this honor. The Apple Distinguished School designation celebrates a culture of continuous innovation, and is an invitation-only honor extended to campuses where leaders, teachers and the extended community have a clear vision for how their technology-rich environments support learning goals.SEPTEMBER 2024
Model PLC Schools
Flower Mound and Polser Elementary schools and Killian Middle School were recognized by Solution Tree for their success in raising student achievement due to the implementation of the Professional Learning Communities at Work process. PLCs at Work are schools in which educators recognize the key to improve student learning is ongoing, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve students. Schools are recognized based on strict criteria, including commitment to and implementation of P-L-Cs at Work concepts, and clear evidence of improved student learning over a three-year period.National PTA Schools of Excellence
Bluebonnet, Bridlewood, Ethridge, Garden Ridge, Hebron Valley, Heritage, Hicks, McAuliffe, and Peters Colony elementary schools; Arbor Creek, Durham and McKamy middle schools; and Marcus High School. The PTAs at these schools were recently named a National PTA School of Excellence.The school of excellence program was designed to open the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities to make data-driven decisions that yield positive, long term results. The Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association announced that Donald, Forest Vista, Garden Ridge, Hicks, Memorial and Peters Colony elementary schools are recipients of the 2023-2024 Student Leadership Award. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding student leadership teams that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their school communities through their leadership and service.AUGUST 2024
Educators Rising Conference Awards
Flower Mound and Marcus High Schools were honored to send students to the Educators Rising National Conference and Competition in Washington, D.C. Flower Mound’s Anna Schafer won 2nd place in Exploring Support Service Careers. Brooke Dasher and Jessica Kluthe (Clue-thee) won 2nd place in Elementary Interactive Bulletin Board. Marcus High School’s Samantha Evans and Callie Venter won first place blue ribbons in Interactive Bulletin Board. Molly Lehew and Reagan Williams won 2nd place in Interactive Bulletin Board.UIL 6-A Baseball State Tournament
Flower Mound High School Baseball team had a remarkable season culminating in a journey to the state championship tournament, where they earned third place. The Jags, ranked 2nd in the state of Texas and 5th in the nation by Max Preps, finished their season with a record of 40 wins.
