Secondary Math

  • The LISD Mathematics program is designed to prepare students to be critical thinkers who are able to analyze situations and solve problems in meaningful contexts.  In concurrence with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), we expect our students to communicate using the language of mathematics, make connections within and outside of mathematics, and reason both formally and informally.  Students develop a rich conceptual understanding of mathematics through these combined processes along with the use of multiple representations, tools such as manipulative materials, and graphing technology.

A strong foundation must be developed through the strands of numerical fluency, algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis, probability, and statistics in order for students to be prepared for post-secondary experiences.  Through the use of engaging, research-based best practices in our instructional methods, authentic formative and summative assessment practices, and clear student learning goals contained in our district curriculum, we are committed to providing the highest quality mathematics education possible for ALL students.
