About Career Readiness
-
Whether entering the workforce immediately after high school, college, or the military, LISD provides many opportunities for students to develop the skills needed for that transition. Within our career and technical education (CTE) programs, students have the opportunity to engage in real-world experiences and hands-on training to help them identify, and eliminate, potential career fields. All of the LISD CTE programs provide students the opportunity to complete a capstone experience with various forms of work-based learning, a valuable experience regardless of their potential career path.
CTE Programs of Study culminate in an Industry-Based Certification (IBC). These certifications have been identified as valuable assets for direct entry into the workforce. These certifications also let future employers know of a student's commitment and pursuit of an industry standard, regardless of whether a student ultimately pursues that career pathway.
Students may demonstrate their readiness for a career pathway by completing the following requirements:
- Class of 2025
- Earn an Industry-Based Certification AND
- Complete two or more courses for at least two credits in the same program of study. (Concentrator)
