Free, State-Funded Pre-K
LISD serves eligible four-year-old students in full-day state-funded prekindergarten classes. Students must be 4 years old on/before September 1 of the school year for PreK enrollment. LISD does not enroll three-year-old students into PreK.
Bus transportation is not provided for prekindergarten students.
Students must qualify for full-day, free, state-funded prekindergarten by one of the following criteria:
- Learning English as a second language
- Dependent of a member of the military on active duty, injured or killed while on active duty
- Dependent of an individual who received the Star of Texas Award
How do I know what campus my PreK child would attend?
Find the 2022-23 campus with prekindergarten that you are zoned for HERE.
Find the 2023-24 campus with prekindergarten that you are zoned for HERE.
How do I enroll my child in PreK?
If your child is eligible for state-funded PreK, you can complete the NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT process in Skyward. Once Skyward online enrollment forms are submitted, the campus clerk will reach out to you for next steps and can assist with any enrollment questions or concerns. Find the name and contact information for the enrollment/attendance clerk at all schools HERE.
Tuition options in PreK are available in Discovery Academy for three and four-year-old children who live in the community, are prek eligible or are a LISD employee's child and also in Employee PreK at Lillie J. Jackson Early Childhood Center for children or grandchildren of LISD employees.
