2022 Early Childhood Summer School

  • LISD provides a 17 day, Early Childhood Summer School for English Language Learners (ESL & BIL) entering 2022-23 kindergarten and first grade focusing on developing greater proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Who can attend Early Childhood Summer School?

Limited English Proficient (LEP) students currently enrolled in PK4 and Kindergarten bound for Kinder and First Grade for 2022-23 who have accepted and receive either ESL or Bilingual services during the 2021-22 school year are eligible to participate in this optional, free program. While these students are not required to participate, districts are required to provide the program. It is offered at no cost to the students who choose to participate.

How do I know if my child qualifies to attend Early Childhood Summer School?

Students entering kindergarten and first grade for the 2022-23 school year who currently participate in a Bilingual class or receive ESL services qualify to attend EC Summer School. Invitations to register for the  EC Summer School program are emailed only to eligible students on March 25, 2022. Parents must submit their child's EC Summer School registration via the Skyward Family Access forms to sign their child up to participate. The registration form in Skyward will close on Thursday, April 22, at the end of the day. Program participation is optional and FREE for eligible LEP students currently enrolled in PK4 and Kindergarten only. Receiving the email with the registration link means your child is eligible to participate for FREE.

Parents who say YES to attending EC Summer School will receive an information packet before the last day of school in May with their child’s summer school location and more info about the program.

Participating students will be assigned to their location depending on where they live in LISD.
