2021 Early Childhood Summer School
LISD provides a 17 day Early Childhood Summer School for English Language Learners (ESL & BIL) and additional campus selected students entering 2021-22 kindergarten and first grade focusing on developing greater proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
2021 EC Summer School will take place IN-PERSON with Covid health precautions in place.
Who can attend Early Childhood Summer School?
LEP students enrolled in PK4 and Kindergarten bound for Kinder and First Grade for 2021-22 who have accepted and receive either ESL or Bilingual services during the 2020-21 school year are eligible to participate in this optional program. While these students are not required to participate, districts are required to provide the program. As always, it is offered at no cost for the students who choose to participate.
How do I know if my child qualifies to attend Early Childhood Summer School?
Students entering kindergarten and first grade for the 2021-22 school year who currently participate in a Bilingual class or receive ESL services qualify to attend EC Summer School. Invitations to register for the LEP EC Summer School program are emailed only to eligible students by the end of March 2021. The application will close Wednesday, April 21 at the end of the day. Program participation is optional and FREE to eligible LEP students. Receiving the email with the application link means your child is eligible to participate for FREE.
Parents who say YES to attending EC Summer School will receive an information packet before the last day of school in May with their child’s summer school location and more info about the program.
