In June 2021, LEF and a generous donation by The Rao Foundation allowed Lewisville ISD to purchase a district STEM Truck. The truck is able to provide STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) experiences to students at any elementary campus that does not currently have ongoing STEM classroom instruction. It is a 2022 high-roof Ford Transit from dealership partner Sam Pack Five Star Ford in Lewisville. It is outfitted with materials to support STEM learning experiences, such as
-
Generator with Interior and Exterior Power Outlets
-
ADA Ramp Access
-

-
Outdoor Retractable Shade Awning
-

Wonder Wagon serves our students in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade. Our 1st, 4th, & 5th grade students go to a field trip to LISDOLA for their STEM and Nature Activities. Through these STEM experiences, students utilize the Engineering Design Process to collaborate on solving real world problems with multiple solutions.
In LISD, we believe STEM lessons:
-
immerse students in opportunities to become creative problem solvers and develop endurance
-
reframe failure and is a necessary part of the learning process
-
integrate STEM concepts that provide a deeper level of learning for students
-
teach creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration
