PreK Tuition Payment Update related to Covid-19 School Closure

Many of you have questions about Discovery Academy payments and refunds. We can share the following information with you right now.

April 2020 Payments

• April tuition payments not already submitted will not be taken at this time. Please do not pay April tuition until further notice.
• If you have a physical check auto-generated from your bank, it will not be deposited and will be held safely until more decisions have been made. If possible, you may opt to also call your bank to stop them from auto-generating and sending the April tuition payment. 

Refunds

Many questions have been asked about refunds. The district has announced it will be closed through May 1, and it is possible schools may remain closed beyond that. Once we know more about what the rest of the school year may hold, we will have a better idea of how to respond to this question. 

Once the district makes a final decision about refunds, and other questions you’ve shared, an email will be sent and an update will be posted here and to LISD.net/prek.

The 2020-21 Discovery Academy application window for new students was January 8 - February 14, 2020. Class selection has been completed and families who applied were notified on Feb. 21 for 2020-21 Discovery Academy classes. Applications for Discovery Academy are currently not being taken, but will be re-opened at a later date in the Spring. 

The LISD Discovery Academy is an exclusive, tuition-based pre-kindergarten program for families in Lewisville ISD offering full-day Pre-K with extended hours and an extended calendar of days taught by a certified teacher and a paraprofessional. The Discovery Academy is currently located at Hebron Valley, Heritage, Liberty, and Valley Ridge Elementary.
