Welcome back to the 2017-2018 school year!
The start of each school year brings excitement and anticipation, and this year is no different. The student enrollment numbers continue to grow, and we predict we will have over 3,650 students this school year in grades 9-12. Our campus and the Hebron High School 9th Grade Campus are enjoying this growth through the development of family housing, and the economic growth of businesses and the employment it creates in the five communities we serve: Carrollton, Lewisville, The Colony, Frisco and Plano.
Other exciting news was received recently as well. This past year Hebron High School earned the highest rating in the state’s accountability system: Met Standard. Hebron also earned four Distinctions from the state in English Language Arts/Reading Mathematics, Science, and Post-secondary Readiness.
May Advanced Placement (AP) scores were strong again with a passing rate of 83%, greatly exceeding state and global averages. Participation rates continue to climb as well, with 2,138 tests given; an 8% increase from the previous year. All of this simply translates to 923 students having college credit before ever setting foot on a college campus. In addition, our Dual Credit course offerings at Hebron in conjunction with Collin College continue to grow rivaling and exceeding other schools in the area.
Next, the Hebron Volleyball team is coming off its fourth state title, and its second state title in a row. The Hebron High School Marching Band finished second in the State UIL Marching Band contest earning the silver medal in San Antonio. All fine arts organizations received top ratings at their respective UIL competitions with the most All-state performers in band, choir and orchestra, collectively. Athletics continue to impress with the Girls Cross Country team going to state along with the Girls Golf team. Boys Basketball won district and the Boys Football team went two rounds deep in the playoffs. Our UIL Academic team was district champions, a first for the school. All academic teams excelled as well in their regional and national competitions: Latin (Junior Classical League), DECA, BPA, FCCLA, TSA, and HOSA just to mention a few. As a result, Hebron High School finished 5th in the UIL Lone Star Cup out of 248, 6A high schools in the state of Texas.
As you can see, Hawk pride and success runs throughout our school. This success has been the result of a dedicated staff, the tireless efforts of our students, and the tremendous support of our parents. This trifecta makes our Motto of “Nothing Less Than Success” a reality.
And finally parents, if you are new to Hebron High School, Welcome! The Hebron community is a great place to live as well as attend school.
