Secondary Science

  • Science, as defined by the National Academy of Sciences, is the "use of evidence to construct testable explanations and predictions of natural phenomena, as well as the knowledge generated through this process."

In LISD, the secondary science staff strives to develop and curriculum that informs teachers how to achieve this experience for students.  Our curriculum, which is continuously being developed to meet the needs of our 21st Century Learners, is rich in scientific process, experimental design, inquiry, and discovery.

The LISD science curriculum is designed in a way that students will acquire science content, make meaning and understanding of science principles, then transfer their knowledge to new situations outside of the classroom. This will equip students with skills required to think critically and make informed decisions in the future.
