College Board AP Scholars

  • Every fall, the College Board's AP Program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated exemplary college-level achievement through their performance on multiple Advanced Placement Exams. Students can include these significant academic distinctions on college and scholarship applications, and more. 

    AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
    AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
    AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
    National AP Scholar: Granted to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

    Additionally, the AP Program also recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement in AP Seminar, AP Research, and additional AP courses. 

    AP Capstone Diploma™: Granted to students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of their choosing.
    AP Seminar and Research Certificate™: Granted to students who earn scores of 3 or higher in both AP Seminar and AP Research.
