    Six LISD Elementary Schools Earn Prestigious Student Council Award
    The Student Council leaders from Garden Ridge, Forest Vista, Hicks, Donald, Memorial and Peters Colony Elementary Schools were awarded the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) Student Leadership Award. To qualify for this award, Student Council leaders had to submit an application to TEPSA showing outstanding student leadership and their impact on their schools and communities through service projects. These student leadership teams will be recognized via video presentation at The TEPSA Summer Conference during the General Session on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 3:00 pm.

    Marcus HS Robotics Teacher Wins Tech Titans Award
    The Tech Titans Award recognizes a high school math or science teacher for the development and implementation of an innovative teaching technique or program that inspires student interest in math and/or science. Congratulations to Marcus' Casey McCluksey for receiving the honor this October.

    Six LISD Elementary Schools Win Prestigious Student Council Awards
    On Wednesday, October 18, the Student Council leaders from Garden Ridge, Forest Vista, Hicks, Liberty, Donald and Peters Colony Elementary Schools were awarded the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) Student Leadership Award. To qualify for this award, Student Council leaders had to submit an application to TEPSA showing outstanding student leadership and their impact on their schools and communities through service projects. In addition to the TEPSA award, Garden Ridge Elementary and Donald Elementary received a National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) American Student Council Association School of Excellence Award. There were only 11 schools across the country who received this honor and to have two campuses in LISD be recognized is quite the achievement!

    Wellington's Dr. Isela Russell Named Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year Finalist 
    Dr. Russell is one of only three finalists, including Taniece Thompson-Smith from Abilene ISD’s Stafford Elementary School and Genesis Yougas from McKinney ISD’s Lawson Early Childhood Center.

    Wellington's Dr. Isela Russell Named Region 11 Teacher of the Year
    On Tuesday, August 1, Dr. Isela Russell, third-grade Spanish immersion teacher at Wellington Elementary, was named the 2023 Education Service Center (ESC) Region 11 Elementary Teacher of the Year during the organization’s annual awards banquet. The event recognizes all of the teachers of the year from school districts in the north Texas region. The Teacher of the Year Program, sponsored by the Texas Association of School Administrators, allows districts to submit one elementary and one secondary candidate to compete at the regional and state levels. Eighty-eight teachers, representing 46 school districts in Region 11, participated in this year’s competition.
