You may be visiting this page because of false and inflammatory information you read on social media. LISD welcomes you to this resource page, and we hope you will find it contains useful information provided to families who may need help navigating challenging topics. It is not part of the district curriculum or found in our classrooms. The district is committed to providing resources for parents, while also working to ensure we are reviewing any potential links or content to external organizations that are able to change and modify their information without notifying the district.
About that website - When the resource was originally linked in 2016, it went to this page: https://www.youthfirsttexas.org, which according to the website “entered into an agreement with Resource Center Dallas to assume the programming.” The Youth First Texas link on the LISD website automatically sent visitors to the resource center website. We were unaware of the change in this external resource until it was brought to our attention. We reviewed the Resource Center Dallas website, and while it does contain information that could be helpful to our LGBTQ+ families, we agree a portion of the website goes beyond the scope of what LISD believes the district should provide as a resource. For that reason, the link has been removed from the LISD website.

It is important for those we DO serve to hear us clearly - we always want to hear from you if you have concerns about anything happening in our schools. You can reach out directly to your student’s school, or district administration, and we are happy to have meaningful dialogue with you on any topic. We would much rather engage in those conversations about your concerns than hear about them on social media. We ask our families and community members to please contact the principal of the school directly or district administration and encourage others to do as social media is not the place to resolve concerns.
What you can count on is this: We will always listen. We value your perspective. And we will continue to seek out and provide resources to ensure we are part of a supportive culture and climate for all of our 50,000 students and their families.
