LISD Psychological Services
Lewisville ISD Psychological Services consists of 22 Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSPs), 10 of which are also Licensed Psychologists, and 4 pre-doctoral level interns. LSSPs work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, administrators, parents, and special education students to reduce academic and social/emotional/behavioral barriers that interfere with learning. LISD Psychological Services provides in-depth social/emotional evaluations, consultation, counseling, behavior management, and crisis intervention. LSSPs support campus staff and parents through consultation regarding students with emotional and behavioral difficulties.
LISD Psychological Services organizes support for families through the Family Center. The Family Center is organized around the needs of families with one or more children receiving Special Education supports and services. Family Center services include family counseling, parent training groups, consultation, and referral services, and are offered on a short-term basis with a solution-focused approach. The participating staff members consist of Licensed Specialists in School Psychology, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Pre-doctoral Interns in Professional Psychology.
LISD Psychological Services also hosts FOCUS Night, a monthly meeting for parents of LISD students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. During the meeting time, parents attend informational presentations while the students receive social skills training. Sibling groups and childcare are also available during FOCUS Night meetings.
