    MHS 1

    Valedictorian
    Jalen Luo

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in either mechanical or biomedical engineering and pursue either engineering or medicine.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mr. David Pike, my Calculus BC teacher, had the greatest impact on me. The Pikester was always very welcoming and encouraged us to reach out for help whenever needed. Even though Calc BC was a challenging class, he made learning really fun. His goofy personality and his presence as a teacher made his class a place where I could enjoy learning and grow as a student. Plus, he’s just a cool guy to talk to.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made for my education was never settling for less. Looking back, I think it’s satisfying to know that you did your best and got the most out of yourself.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school are competing at the DECA state conference, playing 6v6 tournaments in soccer, and getting on late night calls with friends to cram for tests. Besides that, I’ll always cherish being able to joke around and have fun in class with my friends.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the class of 2025?
I hope we’re remembered as decent, diligent kids who are working hard towards a better future for ourselves and others.

    MHS 4

    4. Eshaan Sheth

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to study Business on a Pre-Med track, with aspirations of pursuing a career in surgical medicine.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Ms. Tracy Jennings - AP Human Geography Having Jennings as my APHG teacher as a freshman was an incredible "welcome to high school" moment. It was her love for seeing children succeed that drove her to put so much effort into shaping us into reasonable, mature students. As a freshman, I learned study skills just as much as I learned social skills, and so much of my development is attributed to her.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
My efforts to network with fellow LISD students and faculty allowed me to tap into flows of valuable information, opportunities, and advice throughout my high school career. This proved to be vital as I continued to build my character, both in and out of the classroom. As I continue my education, I look to build strong networks within each of my communities, ensuring that I have resources to set myself up for success.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories throughout high school are not of any big achievements plastered on my resume, but rather, a collection of the small moments that have been generously sprinkled throughout my high school experience. The laughs with friends during class, the late night team dinners after matches, the freedom of not having homework on a given night. Irreplaceable.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the class of 2025?
We live in a society that lacks legacy. "Change the world", no matter how cliche, is the mentality that I adopt as I step foot out of high school. When I retire, I want to look back at my career and be proud of the change we made. I hope that, as a graduating class, we can all take a similar stance and better the world for future generations.

    MHS 5

    5. Brian Stair

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Austin

I’m majoring in Biomedical Engineering and intend to work in biomedical research with a focus on bioinstrumentation and/or immunoengineering.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher who had the greatest impact on me was my freshman biology teacher, Ms. Sujata Durvasula. She helped cultivate my interest in biology and encouraged me to challenge myself in the classroom.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The choice that has been the most valuable to my future was serving on the student leadership team for our band program. My time as the trumpet section leader allowed me to develop my own style of leadership and build a close-knit community of section members who are always supportive of one another.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school are the random conversations I get to have with my classmates every day. I always enjoy learning more about my peers and their personalities.

She is a wonderful teacher, who fosters a true love for learning and genuinely cares about each of her students’ success.

The best choice I made was investing time in the extracurricular courses LISD has to offer. Being involved in DECA to learn real-world professional skills, while developing myself as a leader through the Junior Leadership Program, and finding a community of like-minded students in MEDS Club, allowed me to enhance my education to prepare me for my future.

My favorite memory of school is playing varsity tennis. From late-night bus rides home to early morning practices and team dinners, every moment, both on and off the court, was filled with laughter and fun with friends.

In the years to come, I hope history remembers the Class of 2025 as the class that worked hard while supporting each other. Each student was driven to achieve their best, but consistently supported each other on their individual journeys. Together, we have made our school and community proud.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made during my time in LISD for my education was paying attention in class and doing my work in class. This has really helped me stay on top of things and to not have to stay up super late doing homework or studying.
