    LHS 1

    Valedictorian
    Eric Jeon

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Vanderbilt University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I intend to pursue a triple major in Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience, Medicine, Health, and Society (MHS), and Communication of Science and Technology (CSET) on the pre-med track, fueled by my commitment to attending medical school and ultimately becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
As each school year brought new classrooms, shifting faces, and different teachers, one constant remained throughout my high school journey: Dr. Rebecca DeLozier. Serving as the AP Biology, Medical Microbiology, and Pathophysiology teacher and my Academic Decathlon coach for the past three years—Dr. DeLozier has been more than just an educator; she’s been my mentor. When I joined the Academic Decathlon team as one of only two sophomores, she took me under her wing with unwavering support, recognizing my curiosity and drive and the potential within me to lead and grow. Under her mentorship, I learned what it truly means to be a passionate learner and a compassionate leader. She nurtured my strengths, challenged me to rise beyond my limits, and helped me evolve into a confident student who leads with integrity. Even as our team faced constant turnover and shifting dynamics, Dr. DeLozier remained a steady anchor—providing just the right words to stabilize me and bring me back to reality when my head grew too big. Her belief in me never faltered so that I will carry a lifelong gratitude. She didn’t just teach me AcDec; she taught me to push boundaries and live without regrets.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made was attending as many school events as possible. From football games to fine arts showcases, being present helped me build lasting friendships, support my peers, and feel truly connected to my school community. Those experiences taught me the value of showing up—for others and for myself—which is something I’ll carry into every future endeavor.

What are your favorite memories of school?
Some of my favorite memories in high school came from the late-night study sessions before AcDec and HOSA competitions, sitting in the library, cramming facts with friends, and getting way too hyped over trivia questions. There were moments of pure stress, but also moments of victory, like when we walked out of the testing room after a solid performance, knowing all that hard work paid off. It’s not just about the awards—it’s about the team, the laughter, and the bond we built along the way.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the class of 2025?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2025 as a generation that questioned the status quo and embraced complexity. We didn’t settle for easy answers or passivity; we confronted challenges head-on, not for recognition, but because we believed it mattered. Our legacy won’t be in grand gestures, but in the quiet, persistent ways we shaped our world—redefining success, fostering honesty, and pushing boundaries, all while staying true to what truly mattered.

    Isaac Fleitas

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in Computer Science with the goal of entering into software development.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
My GT teacher from elementary school, Mrs. Kelly Stuth, impacted me so much in my early life. She encouraged us to be creative and take charge of our projects and ideas, and she created an excellent environment for us to socialize and be comfortable taking risks. I'm very grateful for the Passion Projects that she started, where we were allowed to create whatever we wanted and lead how it was developed, whether it be cooking, photography, crocheting, or even coding new games. My deep love for learning started when I took her class, and I wouldn't be where I am today without her.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
Joining extracurriculars like band, Academic Decathlon, and computer science allowed me to explore various interests and stand out in college applications. I've become more well-rounded and learned how to manage my time so that I could succeed for both academics and extracurriculars. The skills I developed while in those programs will help me continue to tread new ground in my future.

What are your favorite memories of school?
The LHS Band provided me with some incredible experiences where I met some of my closest friends and shared many moments with great people. Some of those memories include bus rides to competitions, summer events, going to Corpus Christi, and even chatting with friends during downtime. I never had a dull moment in the band, and I've also enjoyed spending time with the people in the teams I’ve been in.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the class of 2025?
I hope history remembers this class as one that brings people together.

    3. Alexander Fukuda

    LHS 4

    4. Julianna Narvaez

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Carnegie Mellon University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in mechanical engineering, with a concentration in aeronautics to eventually become an aerospace engineer.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The most inspiring teacher I’ve ever had was Mrs. Teresa Chiles, my Honors Precalculus teacher. She had a way of recognizing potential in her students, even when we couldn’t see it ourselves. When I began to struggle in her class, I assumed it meant I just wasn’t good at math anymore, but she showed me otherwise. She reminded me that real strength lies in persistence, not perfection. Her belief in me came at a time when I had started to question my abilities, and because of her, I rediscovered my love for math. Her encouragement didn’t just help me through a tough class, it completely changed how I saw myself and my future. I went from uncertainty to confidently pursuing a path in STEM, all because she believed I could.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made was joining Academic Decathlon. Working with the greatest coaches, Mrs. Counts and Dr. DeLozier, who taught me invaluable skills beyond the 10 events, like time management and self-discipline. I gained confidence in public speaking and interviewing, skills that made college and scholarship applications much easier. I also met people from all backgrounds and found that AcDec strengthened my understanding in classes like econ, math, and social science when topics aligned.

What are your favorite memories of school?
One of my favorite memories is being in Mr. Hollowell’s AP English Language class. He created an environment where every voice was valued and became someone easy to trust. His classroom made it easy to speak confidently without fear of judgment. Even when I blurted things out, I never felt embarrassed. Even now, as a senior, I can walk in for advice. His guidance showed me how powerful a supportive and open space can be.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the class of 2025?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2025 as resilient, driven, and unafraid to lead with empathy. We grew up in uncertain times, yet we adapted, learned to value community, and found strength in supporting one another. I hope we're remembered not just for what we overcame, but for how we chose to grow from it— by showing up, speaking out, and pushing for change in our schools, communities, and beyond.

    7. Hayden Patelski

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Texas at Arlington

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
    Mechanical Engineering

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Kelly Hewitt (Vickery Elementary GT Teacher) Ms. Hewitt was my GT elementary teacher from third to fifth grade. Throughout this time, she showed me nothing short of love and support for my academic journey. She pushed me to challenge my capabilities, and expand my knowledge and critical thinking outside of boundaries I never knew were possible. In addition to this, her classroom gave me a sense of comfort, and was always somewhere I enjoyed going to. Without her help, I would have never found value and memories in education, and been shaped into the position I am in today.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I have ever made for my educational career was taking a chance on advanced placement courses. Early on in high school, I was worried about stepping outside my comfort zone, and potentially failing a difficult class. Despite this, I persevered through many challenging courses and have been able to accumulate many credits along the way. In addition to this, taking AP classes have helped prepare me for college courses in the future.

What are your favorite memories of school?
One of my favorite memories of high school was going to the football games on Friday Night Lights. While school may have been stressful at points, it was always nice to go out and show school spirit, while simultaneously interacting and making friends with fellow students. I grew up going to every farmer football game with my father, so carrying on that tradition long after he has passed holds a special place in my heart.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the class of 2025?
I hope our facility, as well as the fellow students of LHS remember the Class of 2025 as resilient, impactful young men and women who have the desire and power to succeed in whatever challenge they take on. Entering high school near the close of the pandemic, the Class of 2025 truly resembles the post-COVID era; a bright, new generation of students who will positively impact the world and our future generations.

    LHS 8

    8. Kouao Kple

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Texas at Dallas

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to earn a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and later pursue a master’s in chemical engineering. While I’m still exploring the specifics, I hope to work in either biomedical or chemical engineering.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher who impacted me the most was Chelsie Bush, my sophomore AVID teacher at Harmon, That school year, I had a lot on my plate and often felt overwhelmed because I rarely took breaks. Mrs. Bush (then Ms. Hines) taught me that it’s okay to slow down, relax, and be kinder to myself. Thanks to her, I became less stressed overall and learned the importance of balance.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made was probably taking AP classes, from both an academic and a social standpoint. The courses prepared me for the exams and for the future, and many of the friends I have now are people I met in those classes.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite school memories are probably the times I spent joking around with friends in class. I always looked forward to those periods—having fun made class much more enjoyable, and surprisingly, we often got more work done too.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the class of 2025?
In the years to come, I hope history remembers the Class of 2025 not just as a group, but as individuals. I hope the impact we made on the school—and the unique person each of us was—leaves a lasting impression. I hope the laughs and good times we shared live on in the memories of those we’ll leave behind.

    LHS 9

    9. Sydney Williams

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Texas A&M University at Galveston

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Marine Biology. My career plan is to hopefully be able to conduct field research and study a variety of marine animals, especially sharks.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
My former tech theatre teacher Elizabeth Lambert had a big impact in my life because she was so kind and welcoming. She inspired me to do my best in theatre and was always there to give advice. Even the directors now (Ms. Holt, Mr. Kenna, Ms. Rojas, and Mr. Pizano) have had an impact on me, they push not only me but everyone in the theatre to think outside the box and know how to have fun. I also have to mention my Dual Credit English teacher Amber Counts because she made the class so fun to be in and was so easy to talk to. She cared about the assignments that we did and wanted to make them less boring than what they originally were.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made was going to a leadership conference in Canada after being nominated by LHS Harmon. During my time there I got to focus on marine biology, which helped solidify my decision of choosing marine biology as a career.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories include theatre. I have had such an amazing time being a part of the theatre shows the department has put on. I’ve also met and made such amazing friends through theatre. Any memory that includes working on a set for a show or even the show day themselves are my favorite because it is so fun.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the class of 2025?
I hope the Class of 2025 is remembered as being a group of fun, smart, and hard-working individuals. There are so many unique personalities in this class, with everybody finding a place of belonging.

    LHS 10

    10. Ella Fechter

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Wichita State University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in mechanical engineering, and aspire to work as a performance engineer for McLaren’s Formula 1 team, where I can combine my passion for engineering and innovation, and apply my engineering capabilities in one of the most competitive environments in the world.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
One of the teachers who impacted me the most was Ms. Jolene McDonie, my fifth-grade English teacher. She encouraged my love of learning and reading from a young age. Her classroom was a place where curiosity thrived, and her amazing library introduced me to worlds I hadn’t yet imagined. She always made me feel supported and challenged me to dive deeper into my reading. Her encouragement laid the foundation for my academic journey, and her influence continues to inspire my love for books and learning. Additionally, my band directors—Mr. Chris Meredith, Ms. Alicia DeSoto, and Mr. David Kraft—have profoundly impacted my life. Through their mentorship, I’ve not only improved as a musician but also developed key leadership and life skills. They taught me how to be a better leader, manage my time effectively, and stay organized — skills that have been invaluable both in and out of the classroom. Their unwavering dedication to our success inspired me to push beyond my limits, and their guidance has shaped me into a more disciplined, focused, and confident individual. I will always be grateful for the lessons they’ve imparted, and I’ll carry these skills into every aspect of my future.

What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
Joining extracurriculars like band and soccer was the best choice I made during my time in LISD. Both activities taught me leadership, teamwork, discipline, and time management, all of which directly improved my success in the classroom. Learning to balance practices, performances, and academics pushed me to stay organized, goal oriented, and work efficiently. These experiences helped me build the focus, resilience, and work ethic that will continue to drive me through college and beyond.

What are your favorite memories of school?
Some of my favorite memories from school come from the time I spent with my closest friends in band and soccer. The excitement of Saturday competitions and weekend tournaments created unforgettable moments, from supporting each other through tough performances to celebrating wins together. Whether it was making music with my friends or pushing ourselves in soccer tournaments, those weekends spent laughing, competing, and growing closer will always be some of my most cherished memories.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the class of 2025?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2025 as a group that made history, not just as the largest graduating class in U.S. history, but as a class that embraced challenges, supported one another, and led with resilience. We navigated an unprecedented time, worked together, and never gave up. Our class proved that regardless of our size, our collective strength and determination have the power to leave a lasting legacy.
