What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Duke University
Mechanical Engineering + Pre-MedWhat teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Dave Parsons; AP Physics 1, 2, & C; His class is the most challenging I've ever taken, inspiring a hard-working and collaborative environment I thrived in. Mr. Parsons's energy lifts up the entire class, and his dedication to teaching encourages us to work equally as hard. What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made during my time in LISD was challenging myself with rigorous courses like Physics and AP classes. They pushed me beyond my comfort zone, taught me how to think critically, and prepared me for college-level work. Physics, in particular, helped me develop problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of the world. Choosing hard classes showed me I was capable of more than I thought and shaped my future academic goals. What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memory of school was this phase in my sophomore year when everyone played Stop after AP exams. We’d gather around desks, laughing and arguing over categories, racing to fill in answers before the timer ran out. It was such a simple game, but it brought everyone together—students who had barely talked before were suddenly teammates and rivals. After weeks of stress and studying, those carefree moments reminded us of how fun school can be when we just enjoyed each other’s company. In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2025?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2025 as resilient, compassionate, and driven. We faced challenges with determination and supported each other through uncertainty and change. Instead of backing down, we stepped up—leading with empathy, adapting with strength, and leaving a legacy of perseverance. I want our class to be known not just for what we achieved, but for how we lifted each other and made our schools and communities better places.

I plan on majoring in computational biology on the pre-med track and would like to eventually become a doctor. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mr. Dalak impacted me the most because he demonstrated how a challenging class like AP Chemistry could be engaging and intriguing. Using his creativity, he captured my undivided attention during lectures. What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made for my education and future during my time in LISD was challenging myself with AP courses early in high school. Taking AP courses during my freshman year helped me learn strong study skills, time management, and exposed me to other like-minded individuals who pushed me to succeed throughout high school. These classes boosted my confidence for future pre-med and college coursework. What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school were the senior-faculty basketball game my freshman year, mound showdown, and Friday-night craft pies runs with my friends. In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2025?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2025 as determined and dedicated—a group of students who overcame challenges with resilience and never lost sight of their goals. We remained focused and ambitious through all the highs and lows of high school, supporting each other when we needed it most. Our perseverance, unity, and drive to make a difference will define our legacy and inspire future classes to lead with courage and purpose.

Biology, Pre-medWhat teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
In the two years that I had Mr. Dave Parsons for AP Physics 1, 2, and C, there was never a dull moment, whether it was learning new material that boggled our brains, racking our brains during labs, or playing new board games. I never thought I would like physics, but it is now a science that will always have a place in my heart. Mr. Parsons made physics enjoyable beyond lectures, like making paper rockets for kinematics, chasing massive bubbles for optics, and creating a human circuit with the class for electrostatics. He always did his best to help us understand every piece of information, telling us shocking stories and coming up with creative analogies that made the class laugh out loud. Through his class, I learned to expect the unexpected, but most importantly, I realized that there is always room for growth. What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
Taking challenging courses and exploring new subjects, such as AP Physics and Calculus, not only helped me learn discipline, but was also how I met new friends and teachers who motivated me to always go beyond my comfort zone to pursue my interests and explore new passions. What are your favorite memories of school?
This spring, Ms. Bowen took our AP Lit class on a little field trip to the WAC (the sublime) to rejuvenate in the midst of senioritis, and these 30 minutes were one of the most fun 30 minutes that I’ve had during high school. As someone approaching adulthood and new responsibilities, playing freeze tag, going down slides, and chasing geese made me feel like a child during recess again, just running around and laughing with friends. In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2025?
I hope the Class of 2025 is remembered for its diversity in thought, as we explore and speak out about our new ideas and perspectives. Although we are still navigating our futures and goals, I hope our mistakes and achievements, in all areas, continue to serve as a foundation and source of motivation for years to come.

I plan to major in electrical engineering on the pre-med track, with hopes of going to medical school and becoming a doctor. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
AP Biology was one of my first classes when entering high school, and Mrs. Sonya Smith made everyone feel welcome. She made sure no one felt too left behind, one of the reasons the transition from online middle school to freshman year felt so smooth. Mrs. Smith made the subject of biology interesting for me as I entered high school, motivating me to consider and eventually pursue a career in the medical field. Most importantly, she always provided me with a constant source of encouragement as I navigated high school for the last four years. What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made for my education and future was joining many clubs, which allowed me to both find my true interests and meet many different kinds of people who shared the same goals as me.What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of high school were the Mound Showdown football games and last year's solar eclipse because both brought the school together. We lost more Mound Showdowns than we won, but it was still fun to cheer with my friends in the crowd. The solar eclipse was a cool moment where we all stood outside, glasses on, watching something rare happen together. In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the class of 2025?
As we leave high school, I hope the Class of 2025 is remembered as caring and passionate individuals who always pursued their goals despite the obstacles ahead, all while uplifting the community along the way.

I'm double Majoring in Bizcon (Business & Econ) as well as International Relations. I hope to consult internationally for a big firm after my undergrad. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Ms. Bowen has had the greatest impact on me because of her unwavering support and genuine understanding. She always made me feel seen, heard, and included, even during moments when I doubted myself. Her kindness created a safe and welcoming environment where I felt free to express myself and grow. Whether it was through her encouraging words or thoughtful actions, Ms. Bowen constantly reminded me of my worth and potential. I’m truly grateful for her. What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
Joining debate was the best decision I made during my time in LISD. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, helped me become a stronger, more confident speaker, and taught me how to think critically under pressure. Through debate, I developed leadership skills, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the world around me. It shaped not only my academic journey but also who I am today and who I hope to become. What are your favorite memories of school?
Some of my favorite memories of school are the days after AP tests when the pressure is off and everyone is just enjoying each other’s company. We play board games, laugh, and finally get to relax after months of hard work. Those moments of genuine connection, where stress gives way to fun and friendship, remind me why school is more than just academics; it’s about the people and memories we make along the way.In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2025?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2025 as determined, resilient, and unafraid to face challenges head-on. We grew up in uncertain times but never let adversity define us. Instead, we rose above it, with grit, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference. I want our class to be known for breaking barriers, lifting each other up, and leaving behind a legacy of strength, unity, and positive change in our schools and communities.

I am planning on majoring in biology on a pre-med pathway. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mr. Roberts, my sixth grade science teacher, was one of the first people who truly believed in me and encouraged me to push myself academically. His tough love attitude taught me that taking the easiest path wasn't always the best one. To this day, I can still remember the look he gave me when I told him I didn't study after I didn't do my best on a test. Not only was his class a place where I learned responsibility and study habits, but a place where I could find community. I truly would not be the person I am today if it weren't for Mr. Roberts. What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made for my education and future was to take classes that challenged me. Not only could I learn about new topics that assisted me in choosing a career, but I also learned essential habits for managing my time. I now feel more comfortable taking classes and opportunities that are out of my comfort zone. What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school are the times that I spent with my friends: whether it was laughing during breaks in lectures, talking while half-asleep on coffee runs, or simply studying together. Going into high school after the pandemic was daunting, but I was able to meet the most amazing people and build bonds that I will never forget. I will forever hold these memories in my heart. In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2025?
I hope the class of 2025 is remembered as a group of people who always persevered together. I have consistently been amazed at my classmates' ability to join together during times of difficulty and lift each other up. I know that the communities we build will help us enact positive change in the world.

I plan to major in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in robotics and mechatronics. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Every morning, Mr. Ralph Szydlik, my robotics teacher and coach, bursts into the room with his signature, “It’s a Happy Day!” Whether we were frantically fixing our broken robot or sharing a laugh over a midnight snack, he made every moment feel electric and unique. He lives by his motto, “Every student, every challenge, every day, 100%,” reminding me that the journey matters much more than the destination. His unwavering passion and genuine care didn’t just guide our team—they shaped who I am and the thousands of other students he’s inspired.
What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made for my future was to explore everything—debate, band, UIL competitions, and several clubs—before finding what I truly enjoyed: robotics. I experimented a lot during my freshman year, but eventually narrowed my focus to one activity so I could truly pursue it. That decision gave me clarity and the confidence to pursue engineering beyond high school.
What are your favorite memories of school?
Nothing compares to the chaotic memories I had with my robotics teammates—laughing uncontrollably in a freezing garage at 2 AM, taking pictures, or just lying on the floor exhausted after a do-or-die competition. There was something special about competing alongside people who cared as deeply as I did. Those long nights, unexpected victories, and even the meltdowns brought us closer. Looking back, that shared passion made high school unforgettable.
In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2025?
We entered high school as ghosts—masked, distanced, and yearning for the milestone that would have marked our middle school ending—but the Class of 2025 learned to speak loudly without faces and to lead through uncertainty. We turned loss into resilience and distance into unity. Now, unmasked and relentlessly strong, we celebrate more than a graduation—we celebrate becoming and our future. Let history remember us not for what we missed, but for how we rose.

I plan to major in finance and hope to break into investment banking in New York. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher who had the greatest impact on me was Mr. Matthew Kloske, due to his engaging approach to teaching AP Macroeconomics. His energy and enthusiasm made the class enjoyable as he consistently connected complex theories to real-world applications. Mr. Kloske’s not only enhanced my academic interest in economics but also was a great person to talk to about anything. What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made for my education during my time in LISD was enrolling in AP courses. Beyond the academic rigor, these classes introduced me to peers who pushed me to grow and gave me connections with my closest friends. The environment encouraged great discussions and healthy competition that pushed everyone to be the best they could possibly be.What are your favorite memories of school?
Some of my favorite memories of school come from the AP Chemistry labs. Whether we were performing tests, mixing solutions to observe unexpected reactions, or carefully titrating acids and bases, each lab felt like a hands-on puzzle. Working alongside classmates to solve problems and have a real-life experience made it both educational and fun. These memories stick with me because of how engaging and useful they were.In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2025?
In the years to come, I hope history remembers the Class of 2025 as people that were built of resilience. A large part of who we are as a class has been due to who we are surrounded by - hard-working and adaptable leaders. I hope we are able to leave a lasting impression on the world for what we are able to become and the change we hope to inspire.

I plan to major in psychology and plan to pursue a career as a child psychologist. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mrs. Rebecca Bowen, my AP Literature teacher, has impacted me the most. She reminded me that learning should be fun and classrooms can be filled with laughter and joy. Mrs. Bowen reignited my passion for English and showed me that reading and writing are not merely just an arrangement of words but a greater masterpiece reflecting the internal workings of an author. Her care for her students and her subject matter is truly one of a kind. What was the best choice you made for your education/future during your time in LISD?
The best choice I made for my future was taking advantage of the opportunities presented to me by LISD. Whether it was the sports team or clubs that I joined within school or the Junior Leadership and Career Out programs I participated in outside of school, I believe each allowed me to hone in on my interests and gain the necessary skills to succeed in the future. What are your favorite memories of school?
Late nights at officer camp, Sonic runs before drill team practices, and locker room conversations are some of my fondest high school memories. In the classroom, I’ll always remember extravagant group projects in APES, classical conditioning labs in AP Psychology, and the hectic Hamlet scavenger hunt in AP English. I truly believe it’s the people who make a place special, and each of these moments were meaningful because of the people I experienced them with.In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2025?
I hope history remembers the class of 2025 as daring and high-spirited. Raised in the uncertainty of a pandemic, we refused to let our challenges define us; instead, they ignited our tenacity. We are passionate, rambunctious, and desperate to make a big splash in a vast world. With our intellect and enthusiasm, we are capable of making meaningful change, and with our light-hearted nature, we can bring humor and joy to the darkest of situations.
