- Inform the campus attendance clerk that you want to request a PreK transfer.
- The attendance clerk will provide the link to the electronic PreK Transfer Request form.
- Complete the form. When you submit it, the information goes to the Early Childhood Programs office.
- EC Programs will review your request and approve or deny it by late July or August/September.
PRE-K TRANSFER GUIDELINES:
- In-district transfer requests for pre-kindergarten ONLY are processed by the Early Childhood Office. Transfer requests for all other grade levels originate in the office of Student Services.
- Approval or denial shall be based on space availability.
- Please note that some campuses do not have all types of classes.
- Most transfer requests will not be processed until late July or August/September.
- A PreK Transfer is only in effect for the student’s prekindergarten years. Parents wishing to have their child attend kindergarten at a school with PreK must submit an elementary transfer request for kindergarten through LISD Student Services. An approval of a PreK transfer does not guarantee nor imply the approval of a kindergarten transfer.
- The parent and student accepting a transfer agree to abide by the receiving school's standards for academic progress, attendance, discipline, and parental cooperation. Students must be delivered and picked up on time. The school principal may revoke a transfer and return the student to the home school if there are excessive absences, tardies, or occasions when the student is picked up late, if the student violates disciplinary rules at the new school, or if there is a lack of parental cooperation. Revocation of a transfer may not be appealed beyond the building principal.
- The transfer process is NOT applicable to students PLACED on a particular campus to receive special education or other district educational services.
- Transfer applications will be approved or denied by the Early Childhood Office. Parents will be notified by email of the approval or denial of the transfer request. Steps on the appeal process for denied transfers are available from the Early Childhood Office.
