Algebra II: A Key Experience for Readiness
-
While students are encouraged to explore courses of interest, college-bound students should also carefully consider the importance of Algebra II as a core learning experience in their high school programming. Not only is Algebra II a prerequisite for College Prep courses where students can develop and demonstrate college readiness, Algebra II is foundational to the content assessed on college entrance exams such as the SAT, ACT, and TSIA2.
A student is not required to complete an Algebra II course to graduate under the foundation graduation program. However, not taking Algebra II will make a student ineligible for automatic admission to four-year public universities and colleges in Texas and for certain financial aid and grants while attending those institutions.
Campus counselors are a great resource for course planning and strategic scheduling for Algebra II in the math sequence.
