The teacher that impacted me the most was David Pike, my calculus teacher. He made such a complex subject really interesting and engaging and provided a very enjoyable learning environment for all his students. What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school revolve around all the friends that I have made during my time here. Whether it be class hours, passing periods, or even lunch, spending time with my friends and getting to meet new people have contributed to my favorite moments here.In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope they remember us as genuine individuals with a desire to help those around us.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
Stanford UniversityWhat do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Computer science and entrepreneurship/software engineering. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Lauran Popp, AP English III. Thoughtful, passionate, selfless, and bold. These adjectives describe Ms. Popp, but they do not define her. From pouring hours of her time into reading our sometimes-illegible essays to instructing us on the dangers of often-false analogy within political rhetoric, Ms. Popp has not only taught us how to be better writers, but better people, too. She is an eternally open line of support (no matter how trivial the dilemma), my philosophical role model, and equipped with both intense intellectualism and heart. I hope that I'll be able to one day live up to the standard of empathy, wisdom, and dedication that Ms. Popp embodies every day. What are your favorite memories of school?
The “tssss-CRACK-fizzle” of opening an Apple-Pear Celsius (Guava-Kiwi’s good, too) during first-period Calculus; Leafing through the well-worn pages of my English teacher’s Sedaris novel; Jamba Thursdays on the sizzling-hot concrete of our band lot; Hysterically laughing with friends after AP Chem labs with catastrophically-high error rates; walks through the bustling Marcus hallways, the bittersweet thought that I'll only be here for a bit longer echoing in my head.In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
Fondly.

I have made so many friends and have lots of great memories with the Marcus Band. We have lots of shared traditions and always have fun hanging out during summer band camp, football games, and competitions. Marcus Band is great because it exposed me to a group of students that I otherwise may not have met while also developing me into a better individual and leader.

Texas A&M University at College StationWhat do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in mechanical engineering. As for career plans, I have always been interested in the inner workings of machinery and other objects, so I am excited to work as an engineer in the future. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher that impacted me the most was Nathan Ceballos who taught AP World History. He was a teacher that was always excited to be at school and loved his job. He also made the subjects interesting and engaging, while still allowing us to grasp the concept. Although I tend to enjoy logic-based classes more than English and history classes, Mr. Ceb's class was an exception. He is definitely my favorite teacher, and I still love to stop by his classroom and talk with him. What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school are of the football games and my favorite classes. The football games are always super fun, and being in the marching band made the experience even better. As for my favorite classes, I always loved my math and science classes, but I also often enjoyed my history and english classes simply due to the teachers. In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope that history remembers the Class of 2024 as the class that pulled through. Our freshman year, which normally sets the tone for the entirety of high school, was pretty strange due to the impact of COVID-19. However, our class kept persevering, and even with the setback right from the beginning, we still finished the race and are continuing down our various paths.

Mr. David Pike who is my AP Calculus AB and BC teacher has impacted me the most. His personality is very funny and lighthearted, and this makes learning difficult subjects more fun. He’s also a very effective and motivated teacher who always encourages you after making a mistake and celebrates your wins. I’m glad I had such a great teacher for Calculus, and that I now have a strong math foundation for my future engineering classes, thanks to Mr. Pike. What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school have to be seeing friends in between classes and attending fun school events like football games. What university/college are you attending in the fall?
University of Texas at AustinWhat do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I’ll be studying business at McCombs and exploring different options! I ultimately plan to either go straight into the workforce or attend a graduate law or MBA program. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Ms. Popp (AP English III/PSAT Team) impacted me the most; not only did I undergo significant academic development while in her class, becoming a much better writer and test taker, but I became much more interested in rhetoric and debate due to the passion that always shone through her teaching. Her class expanded the way that I perceive problems + approach discussions and the genuineness with which she taught made her class enjoyable and relatable. What are your favorite memories of school?
Some of my favorite memories include meeting people that I can now call my best friends, taking courses that I genuinely found interesting, racing at swim meets/playing at water polo games, and having amazing teachers that shaped my academic journey. A few of my favorite classes were AP English III and IV, APES, AP Gov, AP Calc AB+BC, and APUSH!In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I’ve witnessed many of my classmates’ talent firsthand and I know that they have the potential to do great things, but each also has unique qualities that goes beyond who is considered the “smartest” or “most talented”. So, I hope that we’ll be remembered not solely for our achievements—but for our character.
