    1. Swayam Rath

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Rice University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in Neuroscience, on a pre-med track. Upon graduation, I would like to pursue medical school and eventually become a physician.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Ms. Brieanna Casey, my 8th grade GT English teacher. She is a special example of a teacher whose influence extends far beyond the walls of her classroom. She was not only a constant pillar of support while I was in her class, never missing a single one of my spelling bees, but she continues to be someone I can continue to rely on today, still regularly showing up to my choir concerts and always finding time to review my college and scholarship essays. All in all, Ms. Casey embodies the unwavering dedication to students that defines teaching as such an important profession. I would also like to thank Mr. Alexander Carr and Mr. Nathan Ratliff (Choir), who helped foster my love for music; Mr. Trey Hooper (AP US History), whose passionate lectures allowed me to truly connect to events that happened centuries ago; Mrs. Kerri Boyd (AP Chemistry), whose many sayings (“when you have g…”) and endless enthusiasm made her lessons unforgettable; Mr. Bernard Jenkins (AP Physics 1), whose contagious positivity made “every day a good day” learning physics; and of course, Mr. Ryan Woodward (AP Calculus), who did the unthinkable and made calculus the most enjoyable class I’ve had in high school.

What are your favorite memories of school?
While high school has provided me with countless memories, none are more significant than the hours spent daily on Facetime calls with my friends during virtual freshman year. Whether raging after games of Call of Duty, singing our hearts out to “Lucid Dreams,” or having those random psychologically stimulating conversations, those calls not only forged some of my most important friendships, but also enabled the many unforgettable experiences I had with my friends after.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
The beauty of attending Hebron, with so many different clubs and organizations, is that there is a space for everybody’s interests, whether it’s music, art, healthcare, acting, business, debate– the list goes on. Hence, I hope the class of 2024 is remembered as a class who had the resiliency to continue chasing their passions in their own unique ways, in both high school and beyond, even with a global pandemic standing in their way.

    2. Allison Shea

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Brown University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in biomedical engineering and pursue the medical field to become a doctor.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mr. Ryan Woodward, my AB and BC Calculus teacher has impacted me the most. He taught a difficult subject in a way that made the class enjoyable, actually managing to make us laugh about math. He is incredibly understanding and patient and made me feel listened to. He helped me believe in myself and rekindle my passion for learning.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories were made wherever my friends were, like in those empty parking lots late at night—the perfect place to eat ice cream. Whether it was making ramen with hot plates in AP chemistry or learning how to slickback in the rain instead of studying for our calculus test, I always find myself smiling around my friends. My favorite memories were made when I was surrounded by my second family.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2024 as the ones who brought change by being resilient and adaptable. In a constantly changing society, we will continue to persevere and add to that change, creating a better place for future generations.

    3. Nathan Araya

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Harvard University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in bioengineering, with the goal of pursuing a career in either the biotech industry or the medical field.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher who impacted me the most was undoubtedly Bernard Jenkins, who taught me in my AP Physics 1 class. Mr. Jenkins not only helped us understand complex physics concepts but also helped us learn how to apply our knowledge effectively. Instead of his class being overly serious all the time, he created an environment where students could have fun while still being engaged. He always showed up to class with a smile and never failed to crack a joke from time to time. His ability to lighten the mood made every day memorable. Furthermore, his support was easily shown by his willingness to offer help whenever needed, whether academically or just for a friendly conversation. His enthusiasm and approach to teaching not only made physics interesting but also modified my outlook on learning. I also wanted to mention that even though Mr. Jenkins’s impact on me was profound, the other teachers I had throughout my years of school also impacted me in many ways, all significantly contributing to my educational journey.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school revolve around those last few weeks of the school year after AP exams were completed. Because our coursework was basically finished, those remaining days before summer break were all about relaxation and enjoyment. Whether it was chatting with friends, playing card games, or throwing a football outdoors, the fun we shared made each day unforgettable. These moments not only created lasting memories but also strengthened my bonds with my peers.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2024 for our unwavering determination. Many challenges posed by the pandemic disrupted our transition into high school. Despite that, we persevered through countless obstacles. We faced unprecedented changes but continued to demonstrate resilience and adaptability, allowing us to thrive in new environments. I believe these qualities will define us and enable us to make a lasting, positive impact on the world as we move forward into the future.

    Cha_Madelyn-HHS-2024

    4. Madelyn Cha

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Southern California

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I am majoring in accounting with the goal of pursuing a career in consulting.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Randi Riordan, my Honors Algebra 2 teacher, has had the greatest impact on me. Her energetic personality can make any student excited to learn, and most of all, she truly shows her students that she cares for them far beyond their grades. Whenever I would feel overwhelmed or anxious, she would do everything in her ability to help and always reminded me of the importance of rest and giving myself grace. Even after I was done with Algebra 2, she would always cheer me on at my orchestra concerts and was one of my biggest cheerleaders for even my smallest accomplishments. I truly cannot put into words how grateful I am to have such an amazing role model in my life.

Another teacher that has had a significant impact on me is Matthew Cautivar, my orchestra teacher. Throughout my 4 years in this program, he has continuously pushed me to not only grow as a musician, but as a person. Even when I didn’t believe I had what it took to be in the program or competitions, he would never let me doubt my capabilities and turned my failures into newfound goals. His belief in me and the caring community he has fostered has provided me with a safe space that I will deeply miss.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories come from being a part of the Hebron Orchestra. I was surrounded with some of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met. From playing challenging music to going on trips to LA and Corpus Christi, there was never a dull moment during my time in this program.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope that the Class of 2024 is remembered for our desire for community and growth. Rather than competing against one another, I’ve seen my classmates continuously encourage and aid their peers. With the growing division in our world, I hope that the Class of 2024 will work towards unity for generations to come.

    5. Hiya Chakraborty

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Texas A&M University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in computer science and work in cybersecurity or finance.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Ms. Sheehan, my English II teacher, impacted me the most by being someone I could rely on and trust. I knew I would always be welcome in her room to do my work, rant about my day, waste time, or steal her snacks (thanks for all the MadeGood snacks by the way). She has been a pillar of support and guidance for most of my high school years, and has been a willing shoulder for me to lean on whenever I’ve needed it. I would not have found school as enjoyable without her presence. And, a few special honorable mentions to Mr. Woodward and Mr. Knowles for also providing me with support and encouragement.

What are your favorite memories of school?
Even though I always ate my lunch during 1st period (skipping breakfast might not have been a good idea), sitting at the lunch table with my friends as we exchanged stories about our day, laughed at and with each other, and complained to our heart’s content was my favorite part of school. I’ll miss everyone I got to share a meal with.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope we are remembered as the class that persevered. Having freshman year online was a challenge like no other, as we were forced to acclimate both to a new school and to a new learning climate. But we came, we saw, we conquered.

    Cho_Hailey-HHS-2024

    6. Hailey Cho

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I am majoring in biomedical engineering. I plan to pursue a career where I can design/develop medical equipment to advance health care and benefit the lives of others.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher that impacted me most was my AP Calculus teacher, Mr. Ryan Woodward. He always encouraged me to challenge myself and strive for the best. His dedication to my learning along with his humor allowed me to truly get the most out of this course with excitement. His introduction of calculus into my academics was a great contribution to my interest in engineering so I am very grateful. I would also like to thank Mr. Hooper, Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Sheehan, Coach Branch, and all of my other teachers/coaches for their immense support in my high school journey.

What are your favorite memories of school?
From winning a triple overtime game with my teammates in Hebron Girls Basketball to decorating the homecoming halls late at night with my friends in StuCo, many of my favorite memories come from the various communities that I have been a part of in my time at Hebron. I am grateful for the different experiences and memories I have developed both inside and outside of the classroom that have shaped me into who I am today.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
Starting high school with the challenges of a global pandemic and ending with the sight of a fascinating total solar eclipse, the Class of 2024 has truly been marked by history. Through it all, I hope that we are remembered for our adaptability as we pushed through hard times and our dedication as we have continued to strive for our goals.

    Malkapurapu_Manushri-HHS-2024

    7. Manushri Malkapurapu

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I’m pursuing a dual degree through the computer science and business honors program! I’m not entirely sure what I want to do, but I’m currently thinking of going into tech/finance consulting. Regardless of what I end up doing, I hope to center my career around expanding accessibility and diversity within the tech/finance industries.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
I’d like to thank Hebron’s math department for their unwavering support over the past few years. From Mrs. Randi Riordan in Algebra II to Mr. Ryan Woodward and Mr. Bradley Barry in Calculus, and Mr. Cameron Casalini in Statistics, my takeaways from those classes extend beyond just math. I’ll forever be grateful for our conversations outside of the classroom and the advice they’ve given me in all aspects of my life over the past few years.

I also want to thank Mrs. Holly Hill (7th Grade Science), Mrs. Mallory Sibley (8th Grade US History), and Ms. Brieanna Casey (8th Grade GT English) for their well wishes and for always rooting for my success years after taking their class. And finally, I’d like to thank Ms. Heather Summers (AP Macroeconomics) and Mrs. Jeanette Rooks (AP English III) for encouraging a passion for learning in all of their students and pushing us all to apply our education to benefit the world around us.

What are your favorite memories of school?
Speech and Debate has been one of the most gratifying experiences of high school: I’ve made some of my closest friends through the activity, and I’ll always be thankful for the time I’ve spent competing with them. A memory that stands out is TFA State in tenth grade with Mrs. Wilson, Coach Milstead, and a couple of older debaters. From playing games together to bonding over lunch/dinner every day, it was an unforgettable experience.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope the Class of 2024 is remembered as a class of passion: I’m constantly in awe of the things my peers have done to make a positive impact on the world, as well as their determination to continue fighting for a better future. Though we all have different goals for our futures, our values shine through in our actions, and I know everyone will use their career to make the world a better place.

    8. Nishi Agarwal

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in biochemistry. After college, I would like to attend medical school and become a physician.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher that impacted me the most was Mrs. Catherine Meldrum (Honors Precalculus and PSAT Team). Mrs. Meldrum treated all of her students with kindness and patience. She was observant and encouraging, whether she was recognizing an accomplishment of mine or helping me develop my learning. I deeply appreciated her engaging lectures and adaptability, as well as her genuine desire for me to learn something new everyday. Two other teachers I would like to recognize are Mrs. Kelly O’Brien (AP Biology) and Mrs. Gale Hunt (AP Bhemistry). Both Mrs. O’Brien and Mrs. Hunt furthered my passion for science and pursuing medicine. They both went out of their way to teach content that would help us beyond the AP exam, such as in our future college courses and career paths. Additionally, their humor and tangents they went on during lectures made their classes all the more enjoyable. These three teachers provided me with the work ethic and interests I have today, for which I am extremely grateful. Finally, I would like to recognize Mrs. Donna Friend (Honors English II), Mr. David Cone (Digital Media), Mr. Ryan Woodward (AP Calculus AB), and all of my other wonderful teachers who created a fun and comfortable learning environment and made my high school journey one I will always remember.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories are with the friends I made my junior and senior years. From goofing off in class after AP exams were over to attending the homecoming and prom dances, there was never a dull moment. “Studying” at Panera with my friends the day before a test, then going to Torchy’s during senior off to celebrate (or cheer up) after a test, gave me some of my fondest memories. The friendships and experiences that Hebron has given me are ones I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2024 for our ambition. From the beginning of high school, we have held ourselves to high expectations and strived for goals that sometimes felt beyond our reach. Despite that feeling, we have persevered, achieving what for many of us was once merely a dream. Having grown both together and individually, the Class of 2024 is one that is always pushing to become the best version of themselves, a quality I hope is recognized for years to come.

    Murali_Maya-HHS-2024

    9. Maya Murali

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in Environmental Science with a potential minor or double major in Political Science as part of the Polymathic Scholars Honors Program.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
I am so grateful to my English teachers, Mrs. Kaysi Sheehan (English 2) and Mrs. Jeanette Rooks (AP Language & Composition), for fostering my creativity and encouraging me to think critically about the world around me. They both created such safe and fun classrooms where I always felt like I could be myself. Thank you for making me fall in love with reading and writing again! I am also thankful to my orchestra teacher, Mr. Matthew Cautivar, for putting up with all of my antics and for making me love playing the violin.

What are your favorite memories of school?
I have made so many amazing memories in orchestra, most of all on our New York trip this past March. Seeing Six on Broadway, running through New York City in pouring rain, and growing closer to so many of my friends made this trip unforgettable. Additionally, attending homecoming and prom with my closest friends (and spending way too long getting ready) are memories I will always treasure. Lastly, playing cards and video games in class post-AP exams were the best ways to wrap up every year.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope the Class of 2024 is remembered for our refusal to accept the way that things are. I am constantly inspired by people my age who are willing to stand up to the status quo, who put their principles above conforming to others' expectations. I hope we will continue to challenge social conventions and commonly held opinions when they don't make sense, and that we never lose this spark of resistance.

    Jaana_Arjun-HHS-2024

    10. Arjun Jaana

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I am majoring in Biomedical Engineering with Engineering Honors on the pre-med track. I plan on going into the healthcare field. Currently, I've been thinking about surgery, though I'm not certain what specialization to pursue yet.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mrs. Courtney Herring, my Latin teacher. I had initially taken Latin to get a feel for medical terminology, only intending to pursue Latin 1 and 2. However, through Mrs. Herring's teaching and passion for the subject, I too developed a deep interest regarding the Classics and linguistics in general, taking all the way up to Latin 4 and competing in national Classics events. She always pushed me to think critically whether it was about the contemporary issues we discussed after school or the writings of Caesar--a skill that will be extremely beneficial for both my professional and personal life going forward. I have learned not just how to become a better writer and communicator, but also how to effectively approach the world around me thanks to Mrs. Herring. I would also like to acknowledge Mr. Woodward, Mrs. Hunt, and Mr. Casalini for making their class an enjoyable place to be, and something I looked forward to in my high school career.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of high school were definitely the shared struggles I experienced with friends throughout my four years. Though a hassle in the moment, it is always nice to remember how we got through it together, giving us confidence that we'll be able to handle any future hurdles. The school trips, playing poker after AP exams, and the fast-food runs during senior-off were also definitely something to remember.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope the Class of 2024 will be remembered for their incredible duality. The vast majority of students in my graduating class have learned how to perfectly balance their social life and their academic career. We know how to excel in our classes, while still having a blast. I'm grateful that I can experience both aspects equally with my friends. I aim to maintain this attitude throughout my future.
