What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Southwestern University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to double major in Biochemistry and Feminist Studies with the goal of attending medical school and eventually becoming a pediatric anesthesiologist.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Numerous teachers have profoundly impacted me throughout my fifteen years in LISD. However, my elementary school GT teacher Mrs. Jane Bustos left the deepest impression. I recall feeling invincible and truly seen in her class; I perpetually looked forward to it throughout my time at Parkway. She fueled my hunger for knowledge, pushing me to become my best self and encouraging me to aim for the sky. In her class, I formed countless memories, learned vital life lessons, and forged long-lasting friendships I will forever cherish.

What are your favorite memories of school?
I cherish memories of journeys I’ve taken—both literal and symbolic. As a sophomore, I traveled to NYC with the Lewisville tennis team. Forging bonds that will last beyond high school, I savored the city’s vibrancy and passion for life. Since then, I’ve progressed through the Health Science program. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed learning the ins and outs of the medical world, a journey which I aim to continue as my goal is to become a physician.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
The Class of 2024 have proven to be resilient innovators. Beginning high school amidst a global pandemic, our expectations were futile predictions of the coming years. Forced to quickly adapt to our new reality, we journeyed to discover ourselves in an ever-changing world—yet remained eager to fully embrace life. I’d like to extend a special congratulations to Lewisville’s all-female Top 10: astute, unyielding women paving the way for future classes to follow in our footsteps.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I am majoring in biology on a pre-med track and plan to eventually pursue a career in healthcare.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
I’ve had the privilege of learning from remarkable teachers throughout my educational journey who’ve deeply impacted my life. Most notably, Mrs. Traci Bradley, my 7th and 8th grade GT teacher, filled her class with joy and love each and every day. You just had to have been there during Impromptu Fridays! She sparked my enthusiasm for learning and inspired me to strive for excellence in everything I do. I will always work to make her proud.

Similarly, Dr. Charleen Handzel, my Medical Terminology/Principles of Health Science and Clinical Rotations/Health Science Practicum teacher, played a significant role in fueling my academic and career pursuits. Her authenticity and engaging lessons not only prepared us for healthcare careers, but also for success in life. She always challenged me to understand problems conceptually, and oftentimes, I found that the solution was right in front of me. Dr. Handzel is someone I truly admire and I will be forever grateful for her mentorship.

Additionally, Mr. Blake Hollowell, my AP English Language teacher and Interact Club sponsor, has left an impact that extends beyond the classroom. In class, he created an open and inclusive environment that allowed me to grow immensely as a writer. After working with him as an officer of Interact Club, in terms of service and encouraging the development of young leaders, Mr. Hollowell is second to none. Under his guidance, I have learned what it truly means to value community in the pursuit of serving others, and for that, I want to sincerely thank him.

What are your favorite memories of school?
A big part of my high school experience was spent with my teammates these past 4 years on the varsity soccer team, which felt like a second family to me. Their contagious smiles and unconditional support made every moment memorable. I’ll be forever grateful to play alongside such amazing girls. I will miss our hilarious warm-up conversations, locker room chats, away game bus rides, going out to eat, and everything in between.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope the Class of 2024 is embraced in history as the class that found joy in the mundane. Transitioning from 8th grade to an unconventional freshman year due to COVID-19, all while overcoming personal hurdles, we’ve emerged more resilient with a newfound perspective. We’ve learned to embrace the ordinary, find joy in everyday life, and cherish the beauty and meaning in life’s small moments—a promising outlook as we embark on our individual journeys.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Texas at Dallas

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Major: computer science, career plans: undecided.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mr. Cormack (AP calculus) for playing card games with us, Mrs. Archbald (AP English literature) for giving me the little motivation I needed for the last few months, Mr. Brennan (AP world history) for telling us fun stories.

What are your favorite memories of school?
Spending time with my friends in AP chemistry class in sophomore year is one of my favorite memories. It is also where I first met many of my close friends.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope we are remembered and sympathized as the class that had to go through high school after being confined to our rooms for most of 8th and 9th grade.

    Katelyn McIntyre

    4. Katelyn McIntyre

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Biology, with a Veterinary Medicine path.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
I have many teachers who have impacted me greatly. Professor Reimer (AP World History) always inspired me to work harder than I thought I could, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support. Mr. Hollowell (AP English Lang) was a positive light in my junior year. I always felt like I could be myself in his class, and he likewise encouraged me to work hard to achieve my goals. Lastly, Ms. Holt (Theatre) has been a role model for me this year. I strive to emulate her leadership skills, and she has made me a better thespian and person. She has enabled me to succeed and follow my dreams.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school are the relationships I developed here. I was a shy kid going into high school, but this environment has helped me build confidence and create bonds. My best friends entered my life recently, and I don’t know where I’d be without them. They are always so supportive and uplifting. This school has changed my life by giving me people whom I hope to share the rest of my life with.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2024 as doers. There is so much strife in the world right now, but I believe this can be overcome if we work together. We are all human; we have more in common than one might think. We are a headstrong group who are willing to work for what we want, and if we set our sights on the good in the world, we can move mountains.

    Gore

    5. Katie Jo

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Texas Tech University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
    Nursing (B.S.N.)

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher that impacted me the most was Mrs. Amber Counts, my Dual Credit English teacher. She worked tirelessly to make the most out of the curriculum, while inspiring her students to be creative and expand their writing skills. It is through her encouragement and teaching that I know I feel confident in my writing abilities.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite high school memories come from my time of Farmerettes. Whether it be dancing on the field or laughing in the locker room, my teammates and friends have made my high school experience wonderful and I will miss them dearly as we go off to college.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope the class of 2024 is remembered for all the hardworking women. I am honored to be among nine other intelligent young women who will accomplish many great things in their future careers. Further, many of Lewisville’s most notable clubs and organizations are female-led and have had lots of success this past year. Lastly, I hope the class of 2024 can be remembered for their love, laughter, and friendships.

    Diaz

    6. Anna Diaz

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    North Central Texas College

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in psychology towards a career path as a lawyer.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mrs. Lois Hardaway was my dual credit English teacher during my junior year. Mrs. Hardaway was always so supportive of me and provided good insight during my time in her class. I felt that I was able to learn valuable lessons in her class such as taking into account other people’s perspectives and being better at cooperating with others. Though I always took constructive criticism to heart, she made it more comfortable for me and made me feel that the work I produced paid off with the amount of effort I put in. I am forever grateful to have had her as a teacher and a person I can count on, helping me throughout my college application process, and recognizing that I do work hard towards whatever I put my mind to.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories was after school rehearsals during marching season, being able to share happy and sad moments with my friends, and uplifting each other to be the best version of ourselves. Even simple conversations on anything were some of the best moments during these four years. Connecting with others while cracking jokes to forget the stress we face at home, school, or whatever, my friends never failed to put a smile on my face.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2024 as a group of people that even through the face of adversity, we push through and define our individual success. Though the state of the world has been shaken up by COVID, wars, and other tragic events, we can pick up our feet and change the world with this huge milestone we’ve achieved.

    Henry

    7. Paige Henry

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Texas Woman’s University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Nursing. I plan to become a pediatric nurse, and may go back to school to become a pediatric nurse practitioner.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Not necessarily a teacher, but my middle school librarian Katie Shropshire impacted me the most. Mrs. Shropshire impacted me by making her library a safe place where my friends and I could hang out or eat lunch. She was always welcoming to everyone, and I couldn’t imagine my middle school years without being able to spend that time with her daily in the library.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school would have to be in LEAP class in elementary school. My friends and I would drive sphero robots all around the school, we even made obstacles and ramps for them! We had debates and made dioramas, and we even made a book as a class. At the end of fifth grade, we had a class tea party, which was like the cherry on top of some great years in LEAP.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope that history remembers the Class of 2024 as strong willed and determined. I think that as a class, we have made some great achievements that should not be forgotten. I just hope that we are remembered and looked back on as people who left a positive impact on the schools we attended.

    Power

    8. Eleanor Power

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    UT Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in astrophysics, and work for NASA.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mrs. Traci Bradley, my GT English teacher in 7th and 8th grade. I still write essays exactly the way she taught me, and I really loved the debates we did in that class. She taught me how to argue well, and how to speak in public, and she was a really kind person. Her class was the one I looked forward to the most in middle school.

What are your favorite memories of school?
AP chemistry labs during sophomore year. Actually, pretty much all of AP chem, since there were only about 8 kids in that class and we all got close. It was really fun!

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2024 as existing. Other than that, I don't need history to remember me, as long as my friends still do.

    Win

    9. Sophia Win

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of North Texas

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
Biology and go into medical research and be able to help families who are unable to afford healthcare.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Coach Johnson- tennis, because she has seen me grow since 8th grade. She has taught me perseverance, patience, and to always stay positive even in the most difficult times. She has taught me more than tennis. Honesty, integrity, and respect, comes along with it, and she has taught me to embody it.

What are your favorite memories of school?
Tennis tournaments and football games have been my favorite memories of school. We get to be involved with the school.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope they remember us girls as people with grit and that hard work will always pay off. You can’t give up easily, and just remember that your dreams/goals will be achieved with patience.

    Sung

    10. Marry Sung

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    New York University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans
I plan on majoring in “Individualized Studies” at New York University, hoping to study both law and medicine. I aspire to establish my own Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to aiding countries in dire need of assistance. This is mostly inspired by the Christian humanitarian organization, “Free Burma Rangers,” and also from my own country, Burma, who is undergoing a civil war against the Burmese military. I am passionately committed to entering areas of conflict, remote regions, and refugee camps to offer aid and comfort to individuals in need. I am driven by the motto, “Do not be led by comfort or fear, but be led by love.”

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
James Zauner - the orchestra director at Lewisville High School. Mr. Zauner has passionately shown his students that he does not just want to teach them, but that he cares for them as well. Some days after school I would see him helping students with their math homework. During school I would see him putting aside his pile of work to listen to a student with his/her problems. A way he has personally impacted me is by telling my orchestra life lessons throughout our rehearsals that I would get inspired from and apply to my own life. I’d also like to give a special thanks to Kelly Lancaster — my anatomy teacher. Dr. Lancaster did not just teach anatomy and physiology, but he gave life lessons and showed genuine compassion towards his students. I enjoyed his jokes, playing with his gadgets at his desk, and talking to him about silly yet interesting topics.

What are your favorite memories of school?
I cherish the memories I have made during middle school—of the after school theater rehearsals I had with my friends and with Ms. Allison, Durham’s theater teacher. The ones with Ms. Windle during high school choir was exceedingly enjoyable as our class collectively would goof around with her and she would tell us stories of her crazy life. In short, the silly moments with friends and teachers made school pleasurable and gratifying.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2024?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2024 as innovators who will make an impact in the world. We all had our own hardships that we persevered through and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us.
