David Pike (AP Calculus AB/BC) impacted me the most. He made learning about complex math subjects a fun and engaging experience, and through his classes, I feel like I have developed my passion for learning. What are your favorite memories of school?
All the fantastic and memorable experiences I have shared with my friends, both in academic/extracurricular settings such as DECA, Orchestra, and UIL Math/Science, and in casual settings outside of school. In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
Michigan State UniversityWhat do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan on majoring in biology on the pre-med track to eventually enter the healthcare field. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
David Pike, my calculus teacher, had a great impact on my mentality towards learning in the years I had him. He’s a great teacher that helped make such a difficult subject interesting and palatable, and always showed a genuine passion towards teaching that I now apply to my learning. What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school are attending DECA competitions. The community we’ve built at Marcus DECA and the competitive atmosphere are unrivaled, and I had some of the most fun I’ve ever had at state and international competitions for DECA.In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
I hope history remembers us for our positivity and resilience. As we enter a complex, constantly changing world, we’ve always kept a positive attitude and strived for greatness in and out of the classroom.3. Raquel Susko
What university/college are you attending in the fall?
Texas A&M UniversityWhat do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
EngineeringWhat teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Kayla Handlan, Physics C. When grades and GPAs matter so much, it can be easy to prioritize points over learning and curiosity. Through Friday films and interesting discussions, Ms. Handlan reminded me that there is so much more to know than what’s on a test. The world is a place of phenomena, which can never be fully understood or appreciated by simply studying a curriculum. Ms. Handlan reignited my curiosity, and brought purpose and enjoyment to learning. What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memory of school was a cross country travel trip to Arkansas. Although elbows had to be thrown simply to get a spot on the line, everyone on the team pushed through to the finish line and most of us ended with a personal record! We spent the entire bus ride home in a state of runners high, which led to many unforgettable goofy memories. In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
The Class of 2023 is resilient. No change or disturbance could keep us down, not even a pandemic. With every challenge we came back stronger, and such persistent determination will continue as we go beyond high school and leave our marks on the world.4. Gabrielle Gilberti
What university/college are you attending in the fall?
I plan to attend George Washington UniversityWhat do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to pursue a degree in political science alongside a minor in math. Although I am unsure about where my exact career path will take me, I hope to work in the government and non-profit sector, focusing on public policy and advocacy. What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher who has impacted me the most is Mrs. Carrey Petkoff, AP Government. She taught me to make connections with the world around me and always made me feel like my voice, both inside and outside of the classroom, mattered. I always felt like I could come to her with questions and I never felt like what I had to say fell short in value. What are your favorite memories of school?
The bus jolted as the wheels struggled over the dirt road and all the cross country runners in the bus turned their heads for a glimpse out the window. In all its glory, standing is a field spotted with cows, was a small red barn. My favorite memory from high school was the time I spent in that barn with my Marcus cross country family, at our running clinic in College Station, Texas. In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
"All our eyes were glued to the far corner of the classroom’s ceiling. A man sporting an LISD polo was fastening the screws onto a new video camera: a camera intended to bring virtual students into our in-person class. It was an experiment in hybrid learning, a new approach born of “unusual circumstances”. The class of 2023 was an experiment. We allowed change not to inhibit but to promote our success, through resilience and creativity.5. Vaibhav Sridhar

My favorite memories of school were in the small moments I got to spend with friends, old and new.
