What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
    Business honors

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mrs. Sonya Smith, AP Biology. Though she may not know it, Mrs. Smith’s compassion set the stage for my growth. She has supported me since I was just a freshman, struggling to navigate high school, and continued to encourage me through the rest of my high school years. It is a very special thing to have such a compassionate teacher, and I consider myself very lucky.

What are your favorite memories of school?
Games of Catch Phrase in Spanish class. Deep conversations with friends amidst calculus problems. Any moment with the newspaper staff. I am incredibly grateful for all of my teachers and friends—they are truly what made my high school experience special.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
That remains up to us to decide. Our impact will define our legacy, and our legacy will determine how history remembers us.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program at the University of Texas at Dallas

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan on majoring in computer science so I can improve media accessibility. I hope to conduct studies to analyze barriers for disabled media users and remediate the gap between accessibility and technology.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mr. Russell Yeatts, my calculus teacher, has impacted me the most. He crafted a welcoming and stress-free environment through his words of encouragement and friendly disposition. He helped me enjoy AP Calculus despite the rigor of the subject material, and he never hesitated to provide extra help and support when I was in need.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of high school are the late nights spent with my fellow drumline members during football season. Being in the stands playing pep tunes with some of my closest friends and laughing over delirious conversations on bus rides brought me such joy. Having such a deep connection with my peers was the best experience that high school gave me.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
I hope history remembers the Class of 2023 as one that not only persevered through COVID-19 but also learned to adapt to the changes that followed the pandemic. After missing a semester of our first year of high school and attending virtual school for another year, it was hard at first to maintain personal connections with peers and teachers. But our class learned to adapt and bounced back stronger than ever as one united front.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Texas A&M University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I am majoring in biomedical engineering, and I plan to build prosthetics and other medical devices for my career.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher who impacted me the most was my junior year AP Calculus teacher, Sydney Bentz. She made sure to get through the notes fast so that we would have time to work in class, and she would always advocate for us by making sure we weren’t suffocated with work. She inspired my love for calculus, which helped me decide my college major.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school are the last few weeks of school, when the stress of cramming and studying for AP exams is over. I remember last year playing Throw Throw Burrito in my calculus class and Slap in my psychology class, and it was nice to be able to relax and have fun with my friends. I also loved coming to school early this year with my friends and going to Mrs. Bowen’s room to talk with her.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
I hope they remember us as a class that cared about the world around us but did not take ourselves too seriously.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in computer science and pursue a career in machine learning and data science.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Deborah Becker, UIL Social Studies. Over the past three years, Mrs. Becker has consistently inspired me to discover and explore my interests. Through her consistent enthusiasm for learning, Mrs. Becker helped foster my sense of curiosity and my love for history, which I will undoubtedly carry with me in the next chapters of my life.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school revolve around the close friends I've made during my time here. Whether it be in orchestra, clubs, or even passing periods, these long-lasting relationships have shaped my experiences.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
I hope history remembers our perseverance and passion to continue learning. Despite numerous hurdles, the Class of 2023 has been bolstered by the challenges we’ve faced, ready to take on new opportunities for the future.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Texas A&M University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in mechanical engineering, and I hope to become a biomechanical engineer and work with artificial organs or bionics.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher that’s impacted me the most throughout my time at LISD is Mrs. Renee Wilson, the AP Biology teacher for FMHS and FM9. She has supported me in and out of the classroom, inspiring me to pursue biomechanical engineering and encouraging me to apply to research opportunities. With her help, I was able to complete summer research, and at the end of the program, she drove all the way out to UT Southwestern in Dallas to hear me present my work. I learned so much in her class that will always stick with me, and I am very grateful that I got to have her as a teacher.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memory at FMHS was my junior year (2022) water polo season. We won state for the second time in a row that year, and that team was the best team I’ve ever had the privilege of playing on. We were a family, and I still keep in touch with all those girls. It was amazing to represent FMHS at the state level, and the memories we made that season will last forever.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
The Class of 2023 has had an eventful four years. We have witnessed history being made, multiple times at that, while trying to juggle our classes and homework. If history remembers anything from our class, I hope they remember our tenacity. We haven’t let anything slow us down, despite having so much thrown our way. I’m proud of my class’s willpower, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I plan to major in economics. In the future, I hope to become an economist in the business, financial, or banking sector.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Ms. Harvey was the first high school teacher I talked to. She welcomed me into the band with open arms and through her unwavering support, I learned so much about leadership and improved drastically as a musician. She is undoubtedly one of the kindest people that I have ever met, and she never fails to make me smile. I hope that one day, I can have the positive impact on others that she had on me by believing in me and giving me the guidance necessary to succeed."

What are your favorite memories of school?
My fondest memories of high school are traveling around the state and country with the Flower Mound Band and the FMHS Blue Trumpet Ensemble. I have been able to play amazing music and share many laughs with some of my best friends, and the memories that I made during those trips will stick with me for the rest of my life.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
I hope that the Class of 2023 will be remembered as a group of kind individuals who were always willing to help those around them. During our time in high school, we were aided by upperclassmen countless times, so I hope that as we grew older, we did our part in enriching the lives of our underclassmen and others in our community.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I will be double majoring in UT’s Plan II Program and public health with the intent of pursuing a career in global health policy and advocacy.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Rebecca Bowen, AP Literature. Amid the stress and excitement of senior year, Ms. Bowen's class offers a refuge. Her kind smile and thoughtful words have a way of encouraging every student to find their own narratives strung into the stories we read. From stopping by to have conversations with our "comfy group" to exploring the sublime of Flower Mound High School, Ms. Bowen helped me rediscover my love for literature.

What are your favorite memories of school?
Between conversations before orchestra rehearsals and nights of cramming calculus at the library, I spent my four years here building relationships out of the little things. My favorite memories are my favorite people: they are everything from the simple joy of seeing someone in the hallway to spending four days with my best friends in New York during our orchestra trip.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
The Class of 2023 is filled with some of the kindest, smartest, most hard-working people I know. A large part of who we are as a class has been the inspiring people that we are surrounded by; we are a product of the time and energy that kind, smart, hard-working adults give us. In remembering the Class of 2023, I hope history remembers the teachers who have taught us much more beyond their subject matters.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
The University of Texas at Austin

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I am majoring in mathematics through the Polymathic Scholars Honors Program, and I plan to pursue a career in finance or statistics.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
The teacher that had the greatest impact on me was Mark Rohwer, my choir director. Every single day, Dr. Rohwer inspired me to be not only a better singer, but a better person. Within the safety of the choir room, Doc taught me that it’s ok to make mistakes and that there is always a deeper meaning to be found in everyday actions. He was intelligent, compassionate, and took the time to form a relationship with every one of his students, exemplifying qualities that I seek out in myself. Doc deepened my passion for music by making choir a place where I belonged and singing an experience that connected me to others, and I would not be the same person I am today without his impact on me.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories of school have occurred within my music and math classes. Attending band and choir each day is the ultimate respite from my academics and an opportunity to express myself and release stress through the art forms that bring me so much joy. However, I retain an equal amount of enjoyment from my math classes, where I can relax into familiar formulas and learn information that deeply interests me, making meaningful memories as I extend my knowledge of my favorite subject.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
In the years to come, I hope history remembers the Class of 2023 for our passion and drive. Our class persevered through a rough start to our high school experience, yet still found motivation to continue pushing our boundaries and exploring our interests, seeking out ways to impact others even from six feet apart. I’m amazed by the diverse range of talents within our class, from artists to musicians to athletes, and I hope we will stand out for our influence on the programs and people around us.

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Lehigh University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
I’m planning to study bioengineering and business with the goal of ending up somewhere in the pharmaceutical industry.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mrs. Deborah Miller— McKamy MS English. When I met Mrs. Miller in 6th grade, her uncompromising standards began inspiring me through my academic journey. From encouraging me to read more (because she insisted she spoke faster than I could read), to persuading me to rewrite entire essays (because she simply didn't like them), her candidness motivated me to achieve at a higher level. I will never be able to thank Mrs. Miller enough.

What are your favorite memories of school?
While taking AP Chemistry my junior year, I was fortunate to meet Mr. Dalak, and even more fortunate to become acquainted with his doppelgänger voodoo doll— Little Dalak (LD). On the last day before winter break, I decided to steal LD and bring him with me to Hawaii, where I photographed him lounging on the beach, exploring volcanoes, and more. From these photos, I created LD’s Adventure Book and gifted it to Mr. Dalak.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
As one of the final high school classes to be faced with the adversity of COVID-19, I would like us to be remembered not by our setbacks, but by our never ending perseverance through it all. During this high school journey, our class was one to live by empathy and integrity. As Mrs. Currin would preach, we must always “make good choices, be good human beings,” and try to “change the world for the better.”

What university/college are you attending in the fall?
    Brown University

What do you plan to major in, and what are your career plans?
    Neuroscience and Applied Mathematics-Economics.

What teacher impacted you the most and how/why?
Mrs. Sonya Smith, our USABO Club Sponsor, has been instrumental in both my academic and personal growth. From effectively explaining complex concepts to assisting us with mock tests, she was absolutely crucial in our club's growth and success. But what I admire most about Mrs. Smith is her empathy and willingness to go above and beyond to help her students. I am deeply grateful to have her as my mentor and for her unwavering support.

What are your favorite memories of school?
My favorite memories from school involve hanging out with friends, whether while playing crokinole in Mr. Parsons' room or just lounging around in the robotics lab. Passing periods were a favorite time to catch up with my comrades before class. I also enjoyed USABO Club meetings, which allowed me to learn about biology and provided ample room for miscellaneous conversations with other science lovers—these moments made going to school much more enjoyable.

In the years to come, how do you hope history remembers the Class of 2023?
Before our freshman year was even over, we were sent into the tumultuous times of the pandemic. Despite the disruptions to our academic and social lives, we were able to find new ways to learn, establish meaningful relationships with others, and pursue our passions. The Class of 2023’s resilience and adaptability during this time will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression, showcasing our ability to face adversity and come out stronger.
