A Letter to the Community

  • LISD Community,

The issue of the safety and security of our schools has been top of mind for many of us this summer. As your leaders in education and law enforcement throughout the Lewisville ISD community, we have a shared responsibility to keep our students and staff safe in our schools.

It is important we share with you that there is not a day that goes by that district leaders and your local police agencies are not considering the protocols in place in LISD. Many of us have family and children ourselves who walk the halls of LISD campuses every single day. You can rest assured that the safety and security of the precious lives who fill our schools are top of mind for each and every one of us.

Throughout the summer, we have met on several occasions to ask questions, review procedures, and enhance systems already in place to best serve our schools. As you begin the school year, you will see an increased presence from each of our agencies on all campuses throughout the district. Not only are there School Resource Officers dedicated to campuses in LISD, you will also see an increase in patrol officers making routine visits to our schools, and additional officers on campuses  as we implement the Elementary Rover Patrol Program.

We appreciate your understanding as some specific protocols and procedures are kept confidential. There are details that, should they be shared publicly, would compromise the integrity of our plans. With that said, we will share what we can, when we can, as we continue our collaborative efforts.

We believe the partnership between local schools and law enforcement is crucial to maintaining safe communities for our children. Your support and patience is critical to the success of the protocols in place, and we will continue to stress the importance of your cooperation with policies throughout the district.

We look forward to a great school year and continuing our partnership with one another to ensure our students are able to thrive in secure learning environments.
