The 2025-2026 school year calendar has embedded PLC days, PL days, and work days this year to provide more time for staff to complete critical aspects of their job. Please see below for the description and timing of the different days. Days were differentiated by campus level.
Embedded Professional Learning/PLCs/Work Days
Staff Work Day
Time allotted for staff to complete tasks and prepare for students. This time is free from structured meetings. Tasks might include, but are not limited to: grading papers, conducting parent conferences, preparing materials, collaborating with specialists, and updating lesson plans.
Staff professional learning/PLC Time
Time allotted for professional staff to collaborate in learning communities to learn, reflect, and prepare for students or could be designated as specific professional learning as determined by campus administration. This time is structured and expectations are communicated by campus administration. Tasks might include but are not limited to: analyzing data, reviewing curriculum, discussing instructional practices, learning new strategies, and engaging in effective lesson design.
LISD Essentials
Course
All professional staff must complete the 6 hours of required learning. This learning should be completed on/or prior to August 1. If they are unable to complete the course in the summer, then they will be required to complete it on August 1st. All other staff will complete the course on campus on August 1.
Trade Day
Learning is chosen by employees that pertains to their work content, skill level, and interests, as well as the flexibility of format and time that works best for them. This year it is recommended that teaching staff focus on learning that is a priority for their content. Proper documentation must be obtained and learning must occur outside of contract days/hours.
