Family Center
The Special Education Family Center is a program offered on Tuesday evenings during the school year, designed to provide additional support to special education eligible students and their families. Typical services include Family Counseling and Parent & Youth Resource Skills Training programs that are available on a limited basis and are provided free of charge to eligible families.
2021-2022 School Year. The Special Education Family Center provides Family Counseling and Parenting Resource Groups, all free of charge. Family Counseling offers all members of the family an opportunity to share their honest perspectives and discuss solutions in a caring manner. Parenting Resource Groups offer a variety of research-based yet practical information to provide support to parents. Group participation is encouraged but not required. Due to COVID-19 precautions, all services are provided virtually through WebEx. Families may self-refer to the Special Education Family Center or be referred by any LISD ARD/IEP Committee member (e.g., special education counselor, campus diagnostician, or LSSP).
