Leadership Cohort for Teachers Year 1

Purpose of the Cohort
The Leadership Cohort for Teachers is a comprehensive 8-month blended program designed to strengthen the leadership capacities of participants based on the National Standards of Teacher Leader Model and the Texas Principal Standards. The cohort's main focus is to develop leadership skills and capacities to support improvement in instruction, effectiveness of teams, and leading change by implementing different leadership models, theories, and strategies. Participants will understand how to leverage their own strengths and the strengths of others to promote effective teaching beyond their own classrooms.
Who Should Apply
Any LISD teacher or district support staff who have the desire to develop and grow as a leader and apply leadership skills. Participants might be interested in becoming an assistant principal OR they might want to strengthen their leadership capacities to benefit the team or their students. It is NOT necessary to desire to be an assistant principal in order to participate and benefit from the program.
There is a level of commitment and participants will be required to invest time and effort over the course of the 8 months. Applicants will want to be dedicated to and serious about the obligations below before applying.

Expectations of Participants
- Fully participate in the all learning components of the cohort
- Attend collaborative meetings, limited to one absence
- Engage in learning modules in a timely and thoughful matter to benefit all participants
- Expand knowledge and risk taking to apply content
- When opportunities arise, courageously lead others

Feburary 23, in person, 5:00 - 6:00
April 20, in person, 5:00 - 6:00
*1 hour of November trade credit will be earned for each of the first four collaborative meetings and 8 hours of November trade credit for the Canvas learning modules for a total of 12 November trade credits for participating in the cohort.
Cohort participants accepted into the program will be notified by September 11 with more details and instructions.
