College Street Elementary, located in downtown Lewisville, was one of the most storied parts of Lewisville ISD’s history. With roots dating back several decades, the school and the land it sits on, has played a significant role in the community. However, as student populations continued to grow at nearby schools and the inability to expand the current College Street campus, LISD decided to repurpose College Street and build a new, larger elementary school, also located in downtown Lewisville.
College Street was opened in 1960, when Carl Craighead was superintendent of schools in LISD. The campus mascot was a cougar and was open from 1960-2019. Students who previously attended College Street were rezoned to Mill Street Elementary, which opened in October, 2019. In December, 2020 the district changed the name of College Street to the LISD Student Success Center at College Street. ______ was the campus’s first principal, and Susan Heintzman was the principal when the decision was made to repurpose the campus. Kevin Rogers was superintendent of schools at that time.
