    Availability of Paid Leave at the beginning of the School Year

     

    Employees with a need for leave of absence at the beginning of the school year should take note of the following DEC(Local) policy:

    • Employees with accumulated leave from prior years may request to use that accumulated leave at the beginning of the school year. In addition, employees have access to their new state/local days at the start of the school year.
    • Donated days may be used after all local/state, sick leave bank, vacation, and personal days are exhausted.
    • Sick Leave Bank will not be available until the employee has returned and 18 days have been worked.
    • Hardship:  Employee must have worked 18 days at the start of the school year or employee's contract.
