Children today have unique experiences and curiosities that reach far beyond the confines of school walls. It’s this 21st Century learner who I desire to motivate, equip, and encourage. My great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents were teachers and principals and it's an honor to continue their legacy.
I have been honored with Outstanding Teacher awards and have enjoyed educational roles even when I stayed home to raise my own children. Whether full-time teaching, substitute teaching, private tutoring, or leading library reading programs, I have always sought educational work that promotes lifelong, vibrant learning. This is my sixth year at Donald, and I count it a privilege – and great fun – to be part of the third grade team. Go Dolphins!
I grew up on a 100 year-old family farm in Colorado before heading to Baylor University for college. (Sic ‘Em!) My husband and I met at Baylor and have been married for 30 years. Clint is chief integration officer of a national consulting firm for not-for-profit organizations. He is an expert at strategic planning and process improvement and keeps me on my organizational toes! Over the years, we’ve enjoyed living in Waco, Houston, Tyler, and Des Moines, IA before moving back to Texas seven years ago to settle in Flower Mound.
Music, gardening, cooking, and traveling are things we enjoy doing together with our daughters. Our oldest graduated from Baylor, married, and is working in Austin. Our youngest is a junior at Baylor who sings in several choirs, plays the guitar, piano, and ukulele, and is studying education. The other very sweet, but particularly furry girl in our family is “Belle,” a three year-old poodle mix that we adopted. She loves to snooze on my lap and is always happy to give a friendly hug!
Aside from my faith, family, and friends, I also have great affection for dark chocolate, farm fresh foods, and all things well organized! When I am not teaching, you might find me walking the neighborhood, digging in my flowerbeds, strolling through a farmer’s market, or exploring an antique mall with a cup of coffee in hand.
