• School counselors:

    • Serve ALL students in a school and help with personal, social, emotional, and academic growth. 
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members to help facilitate student growth. 

    • Teach classroom "Life Skills" lessons and facilitate teacher-led lessons aligned with state standards. 

    • Organize school-wide service learning projects and special events as applications of our character education program.

    • Consult with parents, teachers, and administrators.

    • Provide materials on topics related to guidance and counseling standards when requested. 

    • Connect families with school, district, and community resources of many different types. 

    • Counsel individual students, host parent meetings, and facilitate small groups around shared needs like big life changes, newcomers to our school, supplemental social skills. 

    • Identify and meet with students who could use extra care and support from an adult.

    • Help students become ready to learn every day through the teaching of coping skills.
