My name is Melinda Usey and I've had the privilege of teaching in LISD since 1974. I was fortunate to be one of the original third grade teachers at Hedrick Elementary when it opened in 1974. After teaching nine years, I welcomed my son into the world in 1983. When he was five years old, I returned to Hedrick and began teaching fourth grade. In 1995, I was blessed to become one of the first original teachers to open Parkway Elementary.

I am so happy to be at a school that puts an emphasis on 21st-century learning. My classroom is self contained, which means all subject areas are taught throughout the day. This provides an excellent opportunity for student growth and students learning to work together throughout the year.
