Hello! My name is Bailey Forkner and I am SO excited to be teaching 4th grade at Parkway Elementary! This will be my 7th year teaching. I spent one year in kindergarten, 4 years in 3rd grade, and 1 year in 4th so far. I grew up in Abilene, TX where I graduated from high school at Abilene High (go Eagles!). I then went to Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas where I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (K-6).

I am the oldest of four (three little brothers!) and I always grew up wanting to be a teacher. Something about being the oldest sibling ;) I always loved school as a kid and had great relationships with my teachers. I still remember the way each of them made me "feel" over what they taught me. I strive to create strong relationships with my students and families because through my own experience, I strongly believe the quote that says "Someone may not remember what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel." I want my students to know that I genuinely believe in them and their potential, that I am here to help them succeed, and not only help develop their academic life but also their social, emotional and mental well being.

While I will be teaching all subjects, I am passionate about reading and instilling a love for reading in my students! We will read a variety of novels together and participate in many activities throughout the year to help accomplish this. Strong literacy skills are the foundation blocks of success in almost every area, so I don't take this responsibility lightly! I am so excited to work with my 4th graders this year helping develop lifelong learners!

Outside of school I enjoy going to the dog park with my Australian Cattledog Maggie (she is the cutest!), spending quality time with my family, snuggling and giggling with my nephews (they are also the cutest!), reading books and crafting!
