Hello! My name is Mallory Bassett and I am so excited to be here at Parkway teaching 4th grade English Language Arts this year! This is my 7th year at Parkway, but my 11th year teaching. I have previously taught Kindergarten, First and Second grade but am so excited to be back in 4th grade this year and especially excited to be teaching reading and writing. I am an alumni of Lewisville ISD and graduated high school from Lewisville High School (Go Farmers!). I absolutely love teaching in the district I grew up in! I graduated from Austin College in Sherman with my Bachelor of Arts degree. I also continued my education at Austin College following graduation and received my Masters in Elementary Education. Teaching has always been a passion for me and it was never a question that this was the career I was meant to have. I strive to build relationships with students in the classroom and to help them feel successful and confident in everything they do! I hope to foster a love for reading and writing this year as we learn and grow in 4th grade. I want students to build a passion for reading by finding the genre and types of books that they enjoy the most! I also want students to know that they are all authors and help bring out their creativity within their writing. I am excited about helping my students learn and grow! In our classroom we will learn a lot, laugh tons, struggle some, try and try again, celebrate our success, cheer on our friends, have lots of fun, and most of all we will never give up on ourselves or each other!
When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am married to my husband Jason and we have one fur baby, Chance! (we call him our 100 lb lap dog) We love to watch sports, especially the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. I also love to create fun resources, and I have started to get into some crafting with my cricut! (still learning though).
Thank you for trusting me with your precious children! I can't wait to help them learn and grow and create lasting relationships in our class. I am excited about working together this year to make your child's year one of their best yet! I am so excited about being one of their teachers this year and I can't wait to make this a fantastic year! Please do not ever hesitate to reach out to me! :)
