    College Visits:

Juniors may participate in college visits for up to two (2) school days per academic year.  College visit days will not count as absences on the student’s attendance record, as long as proper documentation of the visit is returned to the attendance clerk within two school days following the visit.

    Scholarships:

Most are available for current seniors, but it is never too early to start looking!  We post scholarships that we receive on the announcements, the bulletin board outside our door, and in the monthly email Counseling Newsletter.  School-Specific scholarships can be found on the University websites.  For school-specific scholarships, many scholarship application deadlines are different than their admissions applications.  Schools will either have a separate scholarship application, or they will automatically use the application used for admission as a generic scholarship app.  Visit the school websites for specific requirements

    Testing:

PSAT:  This is offered at Hebron in October.  Juniors must sign up and pay to register for this test prior to the test date.  This test must be taken in order to be eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Competition.

The SAT or ACT must be taken for 4-year college admission.  Plan to take if during Junior year.  Fee waivers are available for eligible students.  Before asking the Counselors for an SAT waiver, check your College Board account to see if one has already been made available for you.

Register for the test online at:

    SAT: https://www.collegeboard.org/

    ACT: https://www.actstudent.org

TSI:  This is considered a ‘placement’ test.  Once admitted to college in Texas, the TSI is administered to determine if a student is prepared to take college-level English and Math courses.  SAT and ACT scores may be used in-place of TSI, if they are available.  See the college admissions office for more info.  Hebron will offer an administration for eligible students.  Info will be sent when a test date is determined.  TSI Info: http://www.collegeforalltexans.com/index.cfm?objectid=63176344-FFFA-217B-60C9A0E86629B3CA

    Top 10%:

The University of Texas, Automatic Admission update for College Freshman starting Fall 2022:

Senate Bill 175, passed by the 81st Texas Legislature, allows the University of Texas at Austin to limit automatic admission to 75 percent of the university's enrollment capacity designated for first-time resident undergraduate students beginning with admissions for the 2011-12 academic year.  The University has determined that they will automatically admit all eligible 2022 summer/fall freshman applicants who rank within the TOP 6% of their high school graduating classes, with the remaining spaces to be filled through holistic review.

***Requirements for the class of 2023 will be announced in September***

    Hebron's Schedule Change Policy - 2021-2022:

Schedule changes will be considered during the first 3 days of class IF there is an error in the schedule.  Errors many include: two classes the same period, class scheduled that was passed in summer school, credit already received in a class, failure, etc.

Schedules may also be changed for program/placement issues.  Examples include: ROTC, placement in an audition course, adding/dropping a sport, etc.

Discretionary elective changes will be limited.  If you chose the elective, or if it was a listed alternate, then it cannot be changed.

The procedure for requesting a change from AP to Honors or Honors to a Regular class is as follows:

***A change may be made at the 9-weeks only.

***Changes at the 9-weeks will only be considered if the student's academic history indicates a need for the change.
