VLA offers the following core math classes: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. All courses are taught by highly qualified Lewisville ISD teachers who also have completed extensive training in online pedagogy. All of these courses are fully online and are designed to provide maximum flexibility for students while maintaining course integrity and easy access to your teacher.
In Algebra 1, students will study linear, quadratic, and exponential functions and their related equations and transformations.
Students extend their learning with an in-depth study of functions and their multiple representations including conics, the unit circle, trigonometric functions, polar coordinates and parametric equations.
Statistics AP is an introductory college-level statistics course that introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data.
In Mathematical Models with Applications, students will use a mathematical modeling cycle to analyze problems, understand problems better, and improve decisions.
In Geometry, students explore concepts of coordinate and transformational geometry; logical arguments and proofs; constructions; triangle congruence and similarity with an introduction to trigonometry.
Calculus (AB) Advanced Placement is the study of introductory differential and integral calculus. Participation in the Advanced Placement examination for a possibility of 3 hours college credit is advised
