The English Language Arts and Reading courses in LISD are designed to develop students across all literacy domains: reading writing, listening, and speaking. VLA offers several English courses including two AP options and two English electives. All courses are taught by highly qualified Lewisville ISD teachers who also have completed extensive training in online pedagogy.
English 4 includes an integrated study of composition, rhetoric, and a particular focus on college-level reading analysis across genres.
Writing focuses on writing for publication and introduces the student to various writing choices in the areas of fiction and non-fiction. Students apply techniques used by professional writers and learn how to critique their work and the work of their peers.
