Southridge Elementary

Above all else in 1st grade we do a lot of hands on learning.  Don't expect a lot of worksheets to come home.  We do our best to capture our learning on video and in pictures.  True learning comes from experiences.  We do not want to create students that can just regurgitate information (although memorizing some information is vital).  We want them to be critical thinkers that can apply what they learn to new situations, make inferences, comprehend, and extend knowledge across all content areas.  We enjoy planning and conducting investigations to learn about our world.
