Hello Rockets! My name is Shannon O’Keefe and this will be my third year teaching third grade at Southridge Elementary. I am so excited to be working with such a supportive and dedicated team of staff, students, and families. My husband and I have lived in Lewisville for 15 years and have two boys and a sweet baby girl named Molly. Molly is our spoiled three-year old lab mix. Connor, twelve years old, will be a fifth grader and Collin, eight years old, will be in third grade this year. I was fortunate enough for several years to be a stay at home mom, taking care of our boys. They keep us busy and I love spending time with them. We enjoy being outdoors, traveling, watching movies, playing baseball, Cub Scouts, reading, and building with Legos.  My previous teaching experience includes teaching third grade in Denton ISD for eight years.

While being a stay at home mom, I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of North Texas. While enrolled at UNT I have expanded my knowledge of curriculum and instruction and further developed my own teaching style and pedagogy based on learning about theories and research of experts in the field of education. I have become more sensitive and aware of how I can meet the diverse population in my classroom. All students deserve an education where they feel safe and excited to learn in an environment that encourages everyone to achieve. Each student's needs must be met according to their goals and individual path. I believe in an education approach that addresses the whole child as we prepare them for the future. My classroom environment is one that integrates learning with active, hands-on/minds-on experiences.
