Elementary Virtual Learning Academy

  • 2021-22 School Year

    Welcome, we're glad you're here!

Lewisville ISD is excited to announce the addition of the Elementary Virtual Learning Academy to its list of educational choices for LISD families for the 2021-22 school year.

Virtual students will access coursework remotely from home in a digital format. Some lessons will be synchronous (the teacher delivering a live lesson or the students participating in discussions through WebEx), and some lessons will be asynchronous (students working independently accessing work assigned by the teacher through the Learning Management System or LMS). Teachers will provide synchronous live instruction each day including their morning meeting, small group, and whole-group lessons. Students' work is completed daily and requires commitment from both the student and the Learning Coach (parent, guardian, tutor, etc.) to be successful.

Students accepted into the Elementary Virtual Learning Academy must meet the requirements to enroll. These requirements include:

    • no major behavioral concerns,
    • continued academic progress,
    • and consistent engagement in both synchronous and asynchronous academic opportunities daily.

Grade levels served in the Elementary Virtual Learning Academy are dependent on current legislation. For the 2021-22 school year, families of students who will be entering kindergarten through 5th grade will have the opportunity to formally request placement in mid-May 2021. Any students who have not completed their application before the deadline may not be approved for the Elementary Virtual Learning Academy.

All applications will be reviewed based on the established eligibility criteria. Students accepted into the Elementary Virtual Learning Academy will be notified in Summer 2021.

    More information to come!
