LISD is excited to announce the launching of our first-ever Elementary Virtual Learning Academy (EVLA) intended to provide students with connected and collaborative learning experiences that support the whole child to foster future readiness and academic success. EVLA instruction will align with all state and district standards and parallel the rigor of daily instruction delivered in LISD in-person classes.
Some lessons will be synchronous (the teacher delivering a live lesson or the students participating in discussions through WebEx), and some lessons will be asynchronous (students working independently accessing work assigned by the teacher through the Learning Management System or LMS). Lewisville Independent School District Elementary Teachers will provide synchronous live instruction each day including their morning meeting, small group, and whole group lessons.
The virtual program is meant to meet the needs of students and families who prefer instruction being delivered virtually through both synchronous and asynchronous instructional opportunities. The virtual student’s academic work is completed daily and requires commitment from both the student and Learning Coach to be successful.
Students accepted into the Elementary Virtual Learning Academy must meet requirements to enroll and continue in the virtual classroom. These requirements include no major behavioral concerns, continued academic progress, and consistent engagement in both synchronous and asynchronous academic opportunities daily.
The grade levels served in the Elementary Virtual Learning Academy are dependent on current legislation.
