Liberty Elementary School Music
My goal as your child’s music teacher is to excite them about music! I want to encourage them to “take lessons” and learn to play an instrument. Activities in the music classroom include: participation in songs, games, organized movement, and playing of instruments. We will also study various composers, as well as, classical music. I hope that my students will develop an appreciation and love for music that last for their entire life.
Benefits of music instruction include:
Success in Society – Music is part of the fabric of our society. We use music to forward our ideas and our ideals.
Success in School – Skills learned through the discipline of music transfer to study skills, communication skills, and cognitive skills.
Success in Developing Intelligence – There is a long-established base of knowledge that music education makes kids smarter. There is, however, a combination of tightly controlled behavioral studies and groundbreaking neurological research that show how music study can actively contribute to brain development.
Success in Life – Many benefits may be psychological or spiritual, and they may be physical as well. Studying music encourages self-discipline and diligence, traits that can carry over to intellectual pursuits. Music provides for self-expression and provides self-gratification while giving pleasure to others. Music is a great power to bring people together. Music is one way for young people to connect with themselves, and is a bridge for connecting with others. Music has been proven to decrease anxiety, depression, and loneliness, which results in stimulation of the immune system and in improved health. Music Education opens doors for children and provides happiness and peace of mind.
