WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students)
WATCH D.O.G.S. is one of the nation’s largest and most respected school-based, family, and community engagement organizations in the country where fathers, grandfathers, uncles or other father figures volunteer to spend a full day reading with students, playing at recess, patrolling the entrances, and any other assigned activities where one actively engages with students. https://dadsofgreatstudents.com.

LISD BACKGROUND CHECKLISD board policy now requires each volunteer to undergo a background check EVERY YEAR before working with students. You will need to complete the background check and create an account in VOLY, the volunteer management system, before volunteering on any LISD campus:

Q: Can I volunteer for a partial day?
A: Yes!
Q: How is the day structured?
A: You will spend the day supporting the teachers across various grade levels and enrichment activities.
You will spend time in your child's class in the morning, eat lunch with them, and then spend time in the afternoon with them.
Q: Should I bring my lunch?
A: Yes, you can bring your lunch or if your student has an open lunch account you can eat a school lunch.
