    SPECIAL MESSAGE:

    The district has informed us that bus routes may run 10 to 15 minutes late today due to a high volume of field trips.  Please do not worry about the location of your students with this in mind.  If the time is extended much longer, we will issue a callout message.  Thank you.

     

    RECOGNITIONS:

    Congratulations to all of the students selected for 2019-2020 Liberty extracurricular groups!  All rosters have now been posted across from the main office for Choir, News Team, and Student Council for the 2019-2020 school year!

    Thank to all students, families, and staff members who helped encourage and create a positive STAAR testing environment this week!  Our results from the first fifth grade round last month were excellent and we are expecting similar results from this week as well.

    Thank you to each of you who will attend the Liberty Stars Talent Show tonight and to the families for their support of their performers and the enrichment team for their coordination under the direction of Joseph Ross! 

    Thank you to each of our Discovery Academy families who attended our first ever graduation ceremony this morning!  Thank you to all Discovery Academy families for your trust and support on this first year journey of this terrific program!

    Thank you to the Kindergarten families who donated items to and participated in Camp Kindergarten this week! 

    Thank you to all who supported Baskin Robbins Night!  Thank you to Chrissy Clark for making the arrangements for this one and all of the restaurant nights throughout the school year!

    Thank you to the chaperones of the second grade field trip to SPARK!

    Thank you members of the Building Leadership Team for your meeting attendance this week and service this school year!

    Thank you to WATCH D.O.G. Julio Sanchez-Orsini for helping us wrap up our week!

    We are wrapping up the second year of the Watch D.O.G.S. program at Liberty Elementary School.   The program showed continued success, with 31 different Dads volunteering for 46 total spots to spend the day at school as a Watch DOG.  The feedback from the Dads and the Teachers is extremely positive as the program continues to evolve.  Steve Glaser, who has been the 'Top Dog' Coordinator for the last two years, will transition this responsibility to Taj Jefferson for the upcoming school year.  We are confident Taj will do a great job as the Top Dog and continue to grow the program.   Thank you to those Dads who volunteered, and we look forward to another great year.  For those Dads who have not yet participated, we urge you to volunteer one day next school year, as this experience will be extremely fulfilling to you and your student.

     

    ACTION INFORMATION:

    Please wrap up communication with the school, pick up any remaining items, deliver any gifts or items of appreciation, clean out the PTA workroom, and plan to head into the summer as soon as possible.  The last week of school is very busy and the staff wraps up their contract time next Thursday, May 23.  Thank you for not waiting until the last minute to take care of these items and let us plan to enjoy the summer months ahead.

    Parents or guardians need to pick up all remaining student medications no later than the last day of school.  All medications remaining at school as of 11:45am Thursday, May 23, will be taken to the LISD Administration Center for storage until disposal on Saturday, June 29.   If you have any questions please contact Nurse Regina at 972-350-5915.

    We are wrapping up the second year of the Watch DOGS program at Liberty Elementary School.  The program has been a success, with forty dads and granddads volunteering to spend the day at school as a Watch DOG.  The feedback from the Dads and Teachers has been extremely positive all year.  Thank you to those dads and granddads who volunteered, and we look forward to an even stronger program next year!  For those dads and granddads who have not yet participated, we urge you to volunteer one day next school year, as this experience will be extremely fulfilling to you and your student.  To learn more about the program, please visit the Liberty Elementary School website / Resources / Watch DOGS.

    If you plan to volunteer next school year, be it here on campus, on a field trip, or one of our away events, you must complete a background check during the summer to update your status and avoid having to worry about updating it during the school year.  You can do so via lisd.net, under the parent resources tab.

     

    EVENTS:

    The annual Guru Vandana celebration of educators will be held at Lewisville High School – Harmon Campus on Sunday, May 19, from 3:00pm to 4:30pm.

    PTA will host a breakfast for all graduating seniors that attended Liberty on Tuesday, May 21, from 7:15am to 8:15am in the cafeteria.  An RSVP is appreciated to Kara Hamlin no later than Thursday, May 17, at hamlink@lisd.net.

    2018-2019 Liberty Yearbooks and All School CDs will be distributed to each student who purchased one on Tuesday, May 21.

    Our end of the school year assembly will be held Tuesday, May 21, at 8:15am.  Family members are welcomed to attend.

    2018-2019 Student Council awards and 2019-2020 Student Council elections will be provided for from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in the cafeteria on Tuesday, May 21.  Family members are encouraged to attend.

    End of the school year awards parties will be held Wednesday, May 22, according to the following schedule with all family members welcomed to attend:  Discovery Academy – 9:30am-10:30am, Kindergarten – 1:00pm to 2:00pm, First Grade – 12:00pm to 1:00pm, Second Grade – 12:30pm to 1:30pm, Third Grade – 1:45pm to 2:45pm, and Fourth Grade – 1:30pm to 2:30pm.  Thank you to all PTA room representatives for another fantastic school year of classroom/grade level celebrations!

    The privately provided fifth grade promotion party will be held at the Flower Mound Community Activity Center on Wednesday, May 22, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.  School bus transportation will be provided from Liberty to the CAC at 2:30pm.  Transportation from the CAC to home will be the responsibility of each fifth grade family.  The school will not be responsible for supervision after the students depart the school bus the Community Activity Center.

    Liberty Elementary School will host the Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony on Thursday, May 23, in the gym starting at 9:00am.  Family members are respectfully requested to not gather at school in the main hallway until 8:15am that morning.  The doors will not open until 8:30am.  The entire ceremony and hallway parade should conclude by 10:30am followed by a PTA provided and fourth grade volunteers hosted reception in the cafeteria until 11:30am.

    The last day of school will be Thursday, May 23, and will be an early release for ALL students.  Students will be released and ready for pick up at 11:45am.  Discovery Academy closes at 4:30pm but families are encouraged to pick up sooner if possible.  ESD closes at 6:30pm but again, families are asked to pick up sooner if possible.

    The building will be closed for the summer beginning Friday, May 24, and will reopen Tuesday, July 23.  Everyone is encouraged to have all communication completed prior to Thursday, May 23.  Be sure to check our homepage or mobile app for information about the 2019-2020 school year.
