Welcome LISD Middle School Parents,

The Virtual Learning Academy offers a selection of courses for LISD middle school students. These courses are available beginning after students' completion of 6th grade. VLA courses are available for 3 terms; fall, spring, and summer. All VLA courses are taught by LISD teachers.

During the School Year: As an LISD middle student, they are permitted to take 1 total credit per year. Each half credit course is taken at an 18-week pace. The course must be completed outside the school day. Each A or B course listed is only worth 0.5 credit. To receive the full 1 credit, both the A and B must be taken.

Summer Term: 1 total credit is allowed to be taken during the summer. Each A or B course listed is only worth 0.5 credit. To receive the full 1 credit, both the A and B must be taken.

The grade earned on a VLA course will not count toward a high school GPA unless the course is taken after they start 9th grade. The course name and final grade will be listed on the high school transcript.
