English as a Second Language (ESL) is an instructional program for students whose dominant language is not English. The purpose of the program is to increase the English language proficiency of eligible students so they can attain academic standards and achieve success in the classroom.
All our teachers at Homestead are ESL certified and use SIOP strategies with our students.
My job with the classroom teacher is to help develop the language acquisition and cognitive academic language skills through the use of sound instruction techniques’. The ESL program provides English Language Learners the opportunity to grasp the academic, social and cultural aspects of the English language through the teaching or listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
