Welcome to the Independence Library!
It is our mission to develop Eagles who enjoy reading, both for pleasure and for information. We want our Eagles to thrive with the belief that readers become leaders in their lives; and we are so proud of our Eagle readers this year. They have been reaching for the sky!
We love that our Eagles visit the library frequently. They can come whenever their teachers give them permission. Our PreK-1st grade students check out 1 book at a time, 2nd graders can check out 2 books, and 3rd-5th grade students may check out up to 3 books at a time.
Being Responsible with Your Borrowed Books
Eagles, please remember that you are responsible for the books when they are checked out to you. Take very good care of them and turn them back in.
** If books are not returned, you will have to pay for the cost of replacing them. (Our library books are reinforced library binding editions so that they will be more durable; so they will cost more than books that you see in stores.)
** If books are damaged by liquids, foods, writing inside, tearing, or rough treatment be sure to turn it in to Ms. Powell right away to see if it can be repaired. Fines may also need to be paid for damage to books; and when they cannot be repaired to a usable state again, you will have to pay for the cost of replacing the books just like when it is lost and cannot be used.
We love volunteers at Independence and especially in our library! Please make sure that you have filled out and submitted the required district background check form (found at the link below) and that your name has been cleared on our campus volunteer list in the office. Then, if you would like to be a library volunteer please just contact Ms. Powell at the email address on the "Staff" link.
** Check out the Summer Reading Programs link to find out how you can have fun reading this summer and earn some great prizes while you do it! **
