Principal: Jennifer Mattingly
Back to school has always meant Friday Night Football, festivals, the band playing, fresh haircuts and seeing everyone with sunburned noses and so much taller! The 2020-2021 school year, however, means so much more! When we walked out of school on March 13, no one had any idea that we would not come back. Five months. It seemed like an eternity. I have missed 609 faces, smiles, and hugs more than I could have ever imagined. Yes, I missed dining in, seeing friends, going to church, and hugs, oh have I missed those hugs, and I have missed my McAuliffe Family enormously.
I am looking forward to my 20th year at McAuliffe; I know it will be different. I know there will be challenges. I know there will be frustrations. I also know that we will do all that we can to make the best, safest decisions possible for our entire McAuliffe Family. I know that this is the only place I would want to be during this historic time. I know that I will use common sense and kindness in my decision-making. I will be honest and do my best to communicate well with each of you! My goal is that when I update this letter in a year, I can fill it with memories of the amazing year Around the World.
As we take this trip Around the World, whether you choose to educate at home or in person, I hope you find a distinct connection to your McAuliffe Family – deeper than ever before. We are all moving through this as best we can. Our journey will be better united as a team – as the McAuliffe Family. I choose look to the positive and search for the exciting.
While different, the spring semester did bring some new, exciting times for my family. My older daughter, Molly (23), graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in May with degrees in Social Justice and Psychology. (I am hoping I can update this soon with a job for her too!) Our younger daughter, Riley (20), continues to live her dream at The University of Alabama where she plays on the soccer team and hopefully goes to school! She will graduate in May! We had another great change for our family this spring: my husband, Chris, retired from LISD after 29 years in education. We started together in East Texas in 1991. I never thought we would end at different times. For those curious about my retirement, I will let you know when I’m ready to go. For now, I love McAuliffe and getting to be here every day. I plan on staying until it isn’t fun anymore! J (More about Chris and me)
Thirty years in education. That’s so hard for me to fathom. It has been an amazing journey, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for us this year. Regardless, I have no doubt that it will be INCREDIBLE!
I look forward to working alongside you, getting to know you, and supporting your family in whatever way I can. I am always an email or Facebook message or text away! firstname.lastname@example.org

I am entering my 18th year at McAuliffe and my 19th year in education! McAuliffe is my home away from home, and there is not a place I’d rather be than HERE! I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, and this will be my 7th year in administration.
My husband, Brad, and I live here in Highland Village with our two kiddos. Dane is excited for 7th grade at Briarhill this year. Paige is at McAuliffe down the hall in fourth grade. We are at the ballfield most weekends watching Dane, traveling, or hanging out with family and friends. Please let me know if you need anything this year. McAuliffe is a special place, and we are here to partner with you in making your years with us the very BEST.
