The CRE News Crew is one of the exciting leadership roles available to our fifth graders. The News Crew is a group of students who perform, film, and create the morning announcements using iPads, a green screen, and the iMovie app. The announcements are viewed in the classrooms every morning by all grades. Students must audition to be part of the News Crew. Twelve to fifteen students are selected and divided into teams. Each team is assigned one week every month to record the announcements, which are filmed before school daily at 7:15 a.m.
Creative Illustrators and Authors (CIA)
The CIA club is an after school club for students in grades three through five who are interested in writing and drawing. Mrs. Watts leads students through the writing process from brainstorming, drafting, revising and editing, to finally publishing. Ms. Rios guides students in creating artwork to best complement their stories. Students will create stories which will be compiled into a CIA book for each club member. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.
5th Grade Library Leaders
5th grade students who are interested in volunteering as library leaders must complete and turn in the Library Leader Leader application to Mrs. Watts. Library leaders help in the library during one recess per week. Leaders assist in a variety of library jobs such as shelving books, helping with check out, creating book displays, recommending books, and more.
