Gifted and Talented Services (GT) provide academic enrichment services for identified students demonstrating superior intellectual giftedness through standardized aptitude and achievement tests, as well as GT characteristics scales, classroom Planned Experiences, and classroom work. GT Services are designed to develop critical and creative thinking skills, problem solving skills, and reference skills for students demonstrating gifted abilities.
For more information, please download our Handbook here.Texas Administrative Code 29.121: A gifted and talented student is a child who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area; possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or excels in a specific academic field. The process for identifying such students include a needs assessment for the purpose of placing students into educational programs designed to develop their potential (Reichert, 1997).
